This is my first time using this forum so any suggestions to make the experience eaiser would be appreciated. I'm looking at buying a 1991 Sea Ray 200 overnighter from my neighbor which he purchased new in 91. He has been very forthcoming with all everything that might need attention. The boat was last used in 2001 and professionally winterized that fall. It has been sitting in his driveway covered ever since, except for each spring he would uncover it and wipe down the interior, this I witnessed myself. I've bugged him a few times in each of the past 5 years and he has finally agreed to part with it. The interior of the boat is immaculate with the exception of a few spots on the carpet, the vinly is in excellent condition. The boat has a 4.3 liter motor but i'm not sure of the hp, 175 or 205. How do I find out? I will be inspecting the motor sometime this week and would like some ideas of what to check or what to look for. From the research I have done this past week I think I would need to replace the water pump, hoses, belts, gear oil, motor oil, impeller and have the carb. rebuilt. He thinks the boat was full of gas but I have not checked yet. Please give me your advice on any of the items you may disagree with or I have not thought of. I thank you for taking the time to read this lengthy post and would appreciate anyone's thoughts on what I should be looking for. P.C.

PC,

Sounds like you need to be very careful about this decision. IE sitting for too long, hours on engine, service history, etc.

Have you decided what you are going to do yet?
