Planning a trip from Tampa Bay to Key West next Summer

Leaving Marco Island going south - you have to go out far enough to clear Marco Shoals.

There is a terrific anchorage at Marco called Factory Bay. Rose Marina is there and you could top off the tanks etc. Then first thing in the morning go to either Key West or Marathon. Both around 90 miles. In Marathon the Faro Blanco Bayside marina is a great place. From there you can go to Key West via Hawk's channel on the Atlantic side or stay west in Florida Bay. In both cases keep a look out for crab pots!

I was never adventuresome enough to try that.
