In a Babylon and have been getting my boat backed into my skip okay most times but I'd like to practice. Not as easy a driving a car to find practice areas.

anyone have some recommendations where there might be abandoned slips or something similar? Thanks

any if anyone could help with some tips or video links to backing into a slip that would be great. Believe it or not...not too much out there on Google.

I don't know what part of NY you're in, but if you are close to many marinas you can usually cruise around them and find empty slips to back in and out of. Also look for businesses on the river/lake that have docks so you can practice side tying to a dock.

While you're learning how to maneuver your boat around docks is a good time to learn how to use spring lines. I'm not talking about the spring lines you hear referred to when tying your boat up to a dock, what I'm talking about is using a line to get your boat to come to the dock or using one to back away from a dock. Once you master spring lines you'll be a master of maneuvering your boat around docks and other boats.

Here are a couple of Youtube vids to get you started on that concept.
