Some of you have commented about some of the pictures I have posted. I thought I would post a few. NW Washington and Beautiful British Columbia is where we really enjoy boating. I'm fortunate to have an Aunt and Uncle that own a small Island called Caldwell Island (AKA-"The Island" to us) in British Columbia so we have some great trips and images from around there. Enjoy................

Woaw!!

It's because it's a too long trip from Europe for my Searay to this place.

But otherwise.......

Nice pics Todd

Todd: Where do you recommend I have have my boat trailered to experience your neck o the woods? My wife and I would like to find a marina where our boat will be safe for a couple months and where we can buy gas. My family would then drive up for some short vacations to explore the area.

Thunderbird1, when would you do this? Are you talking next summer, or something sooner?

I assume you have considered just taking the boat with you when you go, and you have a good reason not to do this. You boat must be about the same size as my 270, and I would not hesitate pulling it back and forth. But I do have a reasonable trailer and tow rig, and get about 13 mpg pulling. And diesel here is about $2.50 now, probably cheaper there.

I may be getting itchy feet, although pulling over Snoqualmie Pass at times is something I would rule out. I don't think I would pull over the pass if it were not bare.

From Portland, Anacortes is a nice place to put the boat in the water. They have a nice place to park your rig within walking distance of the lift. I think Kathy Rau keeps here boat near there.

Anything interesting to go do now in Portland. It seems Sand Island would be a bit cold for a walk on the beach. Do you know of a location in your area where I can put the boat in the water and also moor near where I park? If I came down there for a few days, I would want to be able to go shopping and things while I was there, so would need to be able to tie up near the launch location. The side of the river does not matter to me, OR or WA. I suppose I need to consul my OR boating guide.

Todd, very nice pictures!

If you go by boat to visit Butchart Gardens, you can stay for free in their cove overnight. One is not allowed to tie up to the docks, you need to use a dingy from your boat.

Otter Bay on Pender Island, BC is a nice protected little cove. There is no town here, just a small store. But houses are being built around the cove, so now it probably is not quite this nice.

Great Shots Dave. We'll definitely have to meet up if you come up next summer. Jeremy also showed interest in a trip up From Sacramento. Thunderbird you'll have to join as well. Thunderbird, as Dave mentioned Anacortes is the best place to aim for either a long term trailered parking or moorage. The Twin Bridges Marina on the Swinomish channel(East of Anacortes) is a really nice place. It's not terribly cheap but they have indoor Dry moorage and I believe outside trailered storage. http://www.twinbridgesmarina.com/index.htm
Other than that, If you were to just trailer up from Washougal you can park at the Swinomish Park ramp next to Twin Bridges for up to 2 weeks. http://www.skagitparksfoundation.org/swinomish.htm
I prefer this launch because you can stay longer than 7 days. Washington Park http://www.cityofanacortes.org/Parks/WaPark/wa_park.htm
is about a 20-30 Minute boat ride closer to the San Juans but will only allow you to stay the 7 days. Any of these 3 will get you in the ideal location to make a great trip either into the San Juan Islands, Canadian Gulf Islands or in lieu of trailering into Canada even a trip further North nearer some of the pictures seen above. Either way come on up I'll meet you for a tour. You won't forget it.
