Any one have pictures of flushing a heat exchanger with Rydlyme or something like it? Thanks JC

JC, I'm in the middle of flushing all four raw water systems. I'm finishing up the AC system, then ONAN. As soon as I can get all the plumbing reducers together, and removing the impellers, I'll get some pics together for the Engs. For the mean time, I've installed ( 3 ) valves ( one before the AC strainer 1 1/4" ,one for port and one for stbd 1 " out flow lines to the common drain tubes.... Keeping in mind that I have the " split-gas " AC system ,( all my compressors (5) are in the eng rm and the (7) evaporators are thru out the cabins ). This pic is the type of valve I can use for the AC & Gen. Tim

JC,

Caterpillars are easier to flush because you don't have to remove the impellers. There is a ±15" hose between the sea water pump and the heat exchanger inlet. Pull that off the heat exchanger and connect your flushing apparatus there. On the other end, pull the hose off the outlet end of the transmission oil cooler and connect the other end of the flushing apparatus to the oil cooler outlet.......then let her rip.

Roger that Frank, on the Cats vs Mans. The goods news on this service, its time to change my impellers. I forgot to mention to include the dripless seals and crossover lines to the closed loop flushing...Tim

Frank & Tim, As always thanks for the help! Frank I got the freshwater input from the raw water pump to heat exchanger. I am a little unsure of where to go next.
Where exactly would i put outflow apparatus on the transmission cooler? Thats why
pictures would be of such great help. I noticed Hampton asked for pictures on another thread. Thanks again Frank & Tim!

You want it pretty ?..........Won't be anytime soon because my engines don't need to be flushed. Check back in 2015.

Besides, the Cat's cooling system is just a matter of pulling off 2 hoses and connecting the flush pump to the hose barb. All you need to do is to rig up hoses that fit the heat exchanger input and the transmission cooler output (port side, it is the outboard side; stbd is the inboard side) . I believe they are the same size hose. Run the acid/descaler in the heat exchanger and return it after it goes thru the transmission oil cooler on 3116s and on 3126's get the return from the hose that enters the exhaust riser.

Yea, what he said! :smt043

Anyone ever post pictures? I need to flush mine. I am having issues. No boost, low RPMs, Oil leaking above turbo hose to cooler. I am a visual person, need a page from a manual or a picture with markings?

Yes there was. Also a video. Do a search using the word Rydlyme and see what turns up. I have a copy of the pictures i think? Try the search first or maybe someone else will remember the post? Good luck. JC

Thanks "GmrlPatton" & "JC3"!!

That is Awesome!!! Thanks to "Peterkvs" for the awesome post! I ordered Rydlyme.
