I'm in need of some bass. Trying to figure out the best way to do my new system without sacrificing storage space. I'm thinking of putting a 10" sub under bench seat in between the coolers facing the bow. My only worry is maybe too much water exposure from wet passengers and cleaning the boat. I was also wondering that instead of taking up room with a second battery, maybe using a solar charger.

Can you post some pics of some of your system installs?

Really? No one is running subs on their 185? I can't be the only one.

Mine isn't a185, but here's what I did on my 2003 200br.

I don't have that kind of room under my dash. Mine is enclosed in fiberglass except for a glove box.

Is anyone running subs under the bench seat?

Really, no one is. There is just no room. I've seen one on this site and like you said it's under the bench. The only other place that looks remotely possible is in the storage bin on the port side.

I have a 2008 185 Sport that I installed a 10" Kicker sub in-between the two coolers. Works great and sounds really nice. Make sure what ever woofer you decide to get that it is a "free flowing woofer" (not sure thats the technical term), meaning it will not be installed into a specific size sub box nor will it be installed in a airtight environment. When you do install it, take both coolers out first, and to drill the hole I used a dremil tool. Wouldn't suggest a jig saw unless your really good at cutting or fiberglass repair work. I'll post some pictures of the install later next week. Biggest step was actually cutting a 10" hole into my boat. Measure 10 times before cutting.

Thats exactly what I'm thinking about doing. Just got the sub, I think I'm going to buy a roto zip tool to make the cut.. Where did you mount amp? I was thinking in the passenger side glove box area.

I bought a big amp and wanted some sort of ambient cooling available, so I mounted mine nn the inside wall on the left side of the boat where there is an open storage place. I took seat out and the trim off and mounted the amp (it a big 500 watt Phosgate) on the inside wall up high so you cant see it but it has enough open airflow to keep it from over heating. The whole job took me an afternoon, and I am very pleased with the results.

Thats interesting. I was going to mount mine in the left side console cubby under the radio. It may get warm, but it will definitely stay dry.. Do you have any pics of where you put it?

I do along with the woofer photo's but wont have a chance to post them for a week or so. Work gets in the way of fun way to much!

Here's a photo of the woofer before i installed the cover. I mounted the woofer with the complete woofer inside the engine compartment because if you mount it on the outside your ski door (on the floor) will not clear the woofer and cover togeather.

Interesting note, since i mounted my sub-woofer between the seats i have notice that my fuel gauge reads full all the time. At first I thought that I may have clipped one of the sensor wires but actually found out that the sub-woofer magnet is interfering with the magnetic fuel sensor, not a good thing.

Looking into buying a magnetic "blocking plate" that would solve this problem. That or buying a different sub-woofer that is already magnetically shielded.

Nice job! Can't wait to get mine going. Any pics of how you mounted the amp?
