Wow, it's good to see everyone back in one place.

Before "the other place" disappeared, I was discussing spring boating up here in the Great White North. Some of you asked me to post up some pics, so here they are. This was taken at Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park last May. Yes, it was still damn cold out, but we only get to take the boat out for 3-4 months a year, so we are forced to suck it up and hit the water whenever we can. If you look closely, you can see where the open water ends a little further down the lake. Yup, that there is ice, folks.......

Cool !!! (no pun intended).
We used to have a farm in Creston B.C. and I am little familiar with teh Kootenay Lake ... at least the Southern tip ...

I Loooove BC

We have an acreage close to Wasa Lake(just north of Cranbrook), so we spend most of our time on the water at Wasa, Premier, Moyie, and Columbia Lakes in the Kootenays. I have yet to make it as far south as Kootenay Lake, but one of these summers we'll make the trip.

Kootenay is great...you won'tregret going there.Last time Iwas in Creston was in 1984 can you believe it ... I actually flewinto Cranbrook since that was the clsoest airport then and drove to Creston ... but looking at Creston on their web site it has hardly changed at all in those 22 years.

Doesn't SeaRay makes ICEBREAKERS????
Nice pics, and you got a rare scene but it is original.

Yeah, lifejackets are mandantory on my boat on that lake. The warmest the water ever gets is about 3' Celcius. If you go into the drink, your body starts to shut down in less then 60 seconds.

Brent- it was about 10' Celcius that afternoon. That about 50' Farenheit.

190SigSeaRay- That's a great picture. Good stuff and I like the fact that the kids are tough enough to head out with just sweatshirts! Sometimes I think that some of the most refreshing type of boating.
I'd post a pic which looks similar to your but I've apparently posted too many pictures  Anyway it's in Desolation Sound just out of Prideaux Haven Looking NE and it is very similar to yours-except it's 80 degrees and no ice  here's a thred you may already have seen:
