Thanks Ron, I seen the thread but did not really pay attention to it. Now I know, Thanks again.:smt038

Looks awesome Don! Now I know why it took you so long to get it how you want it. You must be in a high dollar marina, look at that dingy next to you in the last pic! Holy Crap:smt101:wow:

Thanks to All you Guys(Carterchapman, J Levine, Ron, Wilee, Etc.) for the favorable comments on my boat. Wilee, that dingy you see was one of the smallest in Newport, RI. Fun Place to be!:smt038

Don,
The work looks great. I really like the way you configured the aft part of the top and the supports off the arch. I would like to copy it as I am adding a camper back now that I own it and am in the water. One question how do you fold up the aft section of the top --or do you just leave it open?
Again great looking boat.

Pxhil, Thank you for the compliment. In the 1st picture you can see the origional camper back top, it extended from the arch about 2 feet, then angled down to the transom. In the 2nd picture I had the top extended all the way back to the transom, then the panels drop straight down. It give a lot more room in the boat. I leave the top up, it does not come down till winter storage. Most of the time I leave the aft side glass panels in place, the rest I roll up, it don't look bad, look on the 3rd picture, its hard to tell but, the side and glass panels are seperate. I 'll take a Picture with them rolled up and you will see the difference. I also have screen panels for all the solid panels, but I never used them. The new aft section cost about 1500.00 a few years ago. The best part the whole aft top is self supporting, no pole coming down, you'll see in the Pic's soon. It's not complicated at all.

Regards
Don

PXHIL, Today I took a few Pic's, you'll see what I mean about the curtains rolled up. Two of the sides I fold and tuck up around the bars. When were rafted up with other boats I take down the aft glass panels. Notice, no upright supports. If you need anymore info, please ask.

Don,

Can you tell me what products and the process that you use to get your teak to look like that? Sure looks beautiful!

I've been thinking about Seikens (Cetol) on mine, which I hope to achieve the same look with.

Thank you for the compliment. I had posted the information in the thread below: Look at my Post #8 + 15

The Varnish work you see has at least 10 coats applied, I enjoy doing it so I lost count.
I first used 80 grit to take it down to bare, then used 200, then 400 and finished with 600. When done I applied the Pettit wood sealer, I think #120. Once the wood is sealed and dried your ready to apply coats. I would rub lightly with 600, then I would wipe the wood down with denatured alochol, then wipe clean with a Tack cloth. Apply your first coat of 2015, when dry start again with the 600 thru the Tack cloth, repeat this process for as many coats as you wish to apply.
The instructions on the can tells you how many coats to apply. The key is the surface preperation and the amount of coats applied, the more the better it lasts.
