Pet Peeves (Anything Goes)

People that use double negatives (I don't have no talent)

People that use the wrong form of a and an (I'll be there in a hour instead of an hour)

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't "I'll be there in a hour" the correct term? I agree "an" sounds better in that sentence, but I believe you only use "an" when the following word start with a vowel

Ok nvm just googled it.. you're right. Should of stuck with my instinct, 'an' is the correct term in that sentence ;)

Maybe its not the same in the US, but it drives me crazy when I hear adults inserting the word "like" throughout their speech.

So, like, I was talking with my manager, and he, like, says "you need to focus more" and, like, I am thinking, like, how does he know? Its so, like, hard to understand, like, what his priorities are. So, like, I'm like, thinking "whatever" but, like, I have to pretend, like, that I totally get what he is, like, getting at. I am so, like, done with that place, but like, I can't leave until, like, I can find another job.

Almost verbatim what I overheard a woman say to their friend on a train. I don't think they even hear it.
Sounds like my teenaged daughters.

"There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures......and the Dutch.”

How about this? When we were at the cottage, Mary went "what do you want to do this afternoon? and I goed how about water skiing?

This misuse of "went" "go" instead of "said" drives me up a wall.

A new pet peeve--how about those damn thin plastic bags in the produce dept at WalMart. You pull one off the roll and it takes several minutes to pull it apart so it can be opened and used.

G-R-R-R-R-R-R-R

lol. We were at Wal Mart a month or so ago and went through the self checkout. We looked like idiots trying to get those bags separated and opened.

People who can't do simple math...like understanding the taxes that they pay in the United States. When the question is to express their tax liability in terms of total tax divided by adjusted gross income, all they bitch about is how their refund is not the same as last year. You know who you are! :D

That's why I'd like to see two things changed. State and Federal should not be taken out of paychecks, but instead people pay their taxes separately, annually - and 'annually' is November 15, closer to elections as opposed to the middle of April....but I digress

Pet peeves.....seeing as we're on the subject.....Tax season.

Yeah I know who you are talking about but I have not seen my returns yet for this year so don't know what they are. Just know how much we are getting back because my accountant told me.

Try a top marginal income tax rate of 54% in Ontario. That is a pet peeve.

Most actions, of most people, most of the time.

The slow or oblivious idiot in the left lane, and the drivers who refuse to apply horsepower when the light turns green are top two.

if you’re in the left lane, you better be chirping shifts on a green light.

oh, and captain floodlight. f*** that guy

people that write on this and other forums who never use punctuation marks or spell check to have a normal sentence that doesnt run on for days or use capital letters when needed and probably drive in the left lane too slow and in fact dont know to from two from too for that matter or know from no and cant use a period and put a honda generator on the swim platform...whew...:)
