People riding on bow

We live in a society that is obsessed with telling other people what to do, often under the disingenuous guise of safety. I am thrilled to see people outside with their family and friends boating, rather than inside glued to their devices. My
I am not going to advise them where to sit, citing highly unlikely outcomes that would require a complete lack of awareness.

My guess is you have no open water experience. Live free and stupid and die. Unless of course one of the idiots has your kids on board. Safety is always a worthy discussion. If for no other reason than to remind us of things we may have started to overlook.

I was on Shem Creek last night. Saw a family of 8 plus on a bowrider. 4 kids under 6 without PFDs. Bad juju.

Well I saw something much worse than riding on the bow last weekend.
About an 18 foot boat with 8 people on board. There was a guy sitting on top of the outboard motor as they were leaving the dock. Doesn't get any stupider than that.

saw a small wakeboard boat Tuesday going out in the no wake zone with the stereo blasting and a bunch of people on board. oh, and the 2 standing on the dinky swim platform singing and dancing. this was like an older ski natique with the small wooden platform

Bad juju.

here's what the end result can be......83 ft. under water, sonar scanned on the bottom. At least the family can recover the body found.

The things we saw just sitting in our small Marina were just amazing to me. Boats pulling their pre teen kids on floats out of the marina then under the narrow bridge. JetSki's with their driver riding on the handlebars. Small boats loaded with 10 to 12 folks onboard.

But it on the 4th.... Kayaks paddling back in at 10pm, no handheld lights, no vests, and all dead center of the channel. We all weren't in any rush and just idled our way in. I'd like to thank Raymarine for my Quntum radar. It saw them before we did. We radioed the boats following me and warned them of the hazard. You can't fix stupid
