Will be renting a 260 sundancer same I may purchase or may get the 280 and wondering anchor off a small island for swimming. Do the majority of boaters stay in position for the common passing storm, or try to outrun head back to port.

Personally. I head home ASAP. Been on the ICW when it was raining so hard I couldn't see shore.

I really am excited... retirement less then 2 years...cant believe I found a Sundancer to rent. Definitely will be taking many pictures to share :) This boat has GPS also bought a few GPS apps on my phone. This vacation 23rd of September looking at canal homes.
My last boat a 18 ft Glastron 95 merc outboard. Old but took me down the Hackensack river to the Hudson statue of liberty. Now ready for my first cruser with comfort of home below deck for the Mrs.

This is us making a run for home during a surprise storm a year ago. We're the blue dot. The yellow is lightning strikes.

Not sure whether staying out in open water or rushing home was best decision. We made it back safely so I'll have to give that decision the nod. We were in a friend's 27'open bow boat and figured it's better to sink closer to shore. IMG_1322.jpg

Big deal. Your screen capture of the lightning made me shout an expletive out loud (at work, to boot).
