Painting the Out Drive Bravo 3

perhaps a little bondo and paint?

But seriously, get yourself a prop anode. What's that matter with you? Please don't say those are the original anodes. If so, they are probably the wrong ones for the water you are in.

No, I think they are Zinc as the previous owner had it in salt for 2 years (trailered). Not sure about them being original.

I am ordering Mag anodes as we will be slipping her in fresh water starting next month.

Good first move, but get the prop anodes too. MC did not install them on the early BIII, but now they are OE. Did they learn something? Make sure you properly clean up that corrosion, all of it. Disassemble the prop, sand, prime and paint. Inside the hub too. The drives are in relatively good shape, but if you leave any Al exposed, you will be replacing outdrives, even with the new anodes.

Not trying to hijack this but I am getting ready to paint the skeg on my B3 as well.

I remember ready about using zinc chromate primer before painting. I went to Sherman Williams and got an Industrial Marine Zinc-Clad cold galvanzing primer. Is this a good primer to use?

It says to not prime over exisiting paint. I wasn't planning on removing all the existing paint but I would rough it up a little. Will that be OK?

And, my boat is an 1999 and only used in fresh water. I have never replaced any of the anodes. What/where is the prop anode?

I know I have trim cylinder anodes and another U-shaped one on the front of the unit. They look fine. How do I find/check my prop anode?

Thanks
