86 268 sundancer. The gelcoat appears to be a cream color with different maroon color sticker stripes however, the big strip in the middle is not a sticker, it is always fading and I have to buff every 2 weeks. I cant tell if its paint or gelcoat. Can I clearcoat this and if so any recommendations with what? Thank you

Originally it would have been gel coat. Unless you've had it since new, who knows. Most likely, though, it's the original gel. If wet sanding doesn't help, paint it. EasyPoxy, Imron or Awl Grip.

It's gelcoat. Very common in the 80s for boats to have gelcoat sheer colors. Otherwise, as Dennis said. It should wet sand and buff up pretty well unless the gelcoat has been worn away over the years by sanding and compounding. At that point, paint.

Best regards,
Frank

Hi

I just get my old 220DA , -89 model painted and removed stickers. Hull was not very good looking earlier but now it´s like new.

I try to attach picture if I found how to do it. My first visit on this site....
