Owners manual says flush engines after each use...do you?

Thanks, it's a labor of love, keeping the boat looking like new.

I bought the boat in Sept of 2006. In June of 2007 I had the aluminum manifolds replaced. So the current manifolds are 5 years old. The Risers are 10 years old, as is all the other raw water cooled parts. The previous owner also flushed the engines. Up until moving to RI I had always boated in fresh water, and I wanted to keep this boat as salt free as possible. I did have the manifolds checked by the marina at 4 years and as I mentioned they looked like new. Now I plan to do it every two years just to be safe.

It's due of this forum that I can claim every system on the boat works. The folks here have an incredible breath of knowledge and are more then willing to help.

I agree with you, it's never too late to start flushing and it will prolong the life of the engines.

Well it's a beauty dc'.

I agree with you, the wealth of information that has come my way at CSR has been amazing. Not only that but the guys here, some of whom I communicate with otherwise, truly a joy.

Btw, so many guys here have Raymarine electronics that I'd like to offer for those that don't know it already, the Raymarine technical support forum is outstanding. Raymarine moderators and techs populate it for all of their products and services. Post your question during biz hours and most likely within the hour a moderator will reply. These guys really know their stuff about older and new products..A-Z. I'm coming from a coastal and offshore fishing boat and Lowrance products which, for me, can't be beat when it comes to fishing. However, they are well known for their lack of customer service. I can say it has improved but they don't have a tech support forum like Raymarine. maybe Furuno et al do, I don't know.

rcon, those are the guys. I cannot say that I was entirely pleased with their customer service or with the product as it is today. My first install on my prior boat was great. Quality materials, good customer rep. The second time around the kits are more expensive and have more cheap components. Customer service is almost non-existant. I took the basic kit and swapped out all of the plastic fittings (they call delrin) with brass equivalents that I had to search for. I also replaced all the cheap chinese hose clamps with much better quality US SS ones. Now I am happy with the set-up. Added bonus is it only takes about 5 minutes to winterize the engines. Drain as much as possible then pump A/F through the system with a hand pump via the hose port.
