I think it could be bolted together in sections, but yes carrying a 12 foot board is not as easy as it sounds. Even having it on the trailer, you still have to throw it in the boat or hanging out of the bed of the truck until you launch and then carry it while you retrieve the trailer from the water. I'd guess even 2 3 or 4 footers would give you enough to mount the lights and would be easier to manage. I still like my solution better!
