I'm looking into buying a New Sea Lion trailer for my New used 85 260da. Anyone know the weight of this vessel? I expect to use this trailer for hauling bigger boats as well so I was figuring on a max loa of 28', 7-9k lb capacity on a tandem axle. Thanks.
Matt.

Thanks for the links. Would the weight be the same for a Sundancer? The manual is for a Weekender. Is there a manual available for the 260 Sundancer also? Appreciate the help. Matt.

Matt-
For some reason I have noticed a big difference between what sea ray says the boat weighs and what the scale says. My boat is supposed to weigh about 6,300 lbs according to sea ray. When I pull it over the scale on the trailer it weighs 9,400 lbs. I figure my trailer weighs about 1,000 lbs, maybe more but I think thats pretty close. Remember the weight sea ray posts is dry weight with nothing in the boat. When I weighed mine though, I had just bought it, so there was no gear in the boat other than maybe the canvas and life jackets. I had a similar experience with my 230 weekender too, supposed to weigh 4,060 lbs dry and on the trailer it was 6,300 lbs. If you are looking to upgrade some day but keep the trailer, i would reccomend something with a capacity of around those weights. My trailer has two 5k axles, so it is at the limit. I see some with three 3.5k axles with about the same size boat on them.

If the trailer under your 270 is steel, it will weigh at least 2 or 3 times what your are guessing depending on how it is made.

10.4 keioke, the trailer is aluminum. I know it is still heavy, but I am guessing between 1000 and 1500 lbs. The other trailer was steel, but it was pretty chincy. they prob. weigh about the same. my guess at least.

I just saw a picture of your trailer in another thread. Aluminum is much lighter. The manufacturer that made the tri axle aluminum for my 260 said it weighed about 1200 pounds.

Thanks for the info. I figure a trailer capable of holding around 7-8k should be more than adequate. I will also be usins this trailer for my marine business but don't anticipate hauliing anything over 8 or 9k due to my truck and hitch capacity.
