This past weekend I was in a fishing tournament. I did a lot of trolling. Well, the temps are climbing from the 140* mark to 190* / 210* mark. :smt021

If I pickup speed, the temps will drop back to 140*. (from idle to 1500 rpm)

On plane the temp stays at 140*. Slow back down and troll, temps climb again...

T-Stat?? (which is only 3 months old)

Maybe the impellar. they typically last 2 years, give or take...

Not that I'm an expert of any sorts but from gathing all the great knowledge of this board and it's many experts I would agree with a failing impeller or maybe a partial blockage.

typically a failing impeller will cause a spike in temp at higher rpms not lower...but I suppose it's possible.

The entire cooling system was just repalced before July.

Don't troll...

or, consider a small outboard for trolling. It will be more economical, and less wear/tear on your main engine(s).

It doesn't take much to wear/block an impellar.

I"ve trolled for years with this boat and the others I've had. Most of the fishing in my area is trolling. I'd need one hell of an outbaord to fight the tide in the river I'm in. The tide runs 5 to 7 knots on a slow day...

Yep, it's been perfect all summer, just started acting up Saturday. Thursday and Friday I was out and no problems. We were out yesterday and it was overheating.

The original culprit was the manifolds and risers. The water pump in the outdrive is a complete replacement. Also the circulator pump and all hoses. And then the t-stat. I figured while I was at it, go for it all.

It sure sounds like an impeller to me, especially the part where it cools down at 1500 rpms. I bet you have a vane or two missing.

Its obvious water flow water flow water flow. It s restriced:

Through hull
Hose (collapseing, cracked and drawing air?)
Strainer And gaskets
hoses to pump
Pump impeller
Hose to HE
Heat exchanger
FW pump
Exhaust Elbow blocked

Start fron the intake and work through the problem.

No matter how newly serviced ... the problem is certain as is the fix. restore water flow.

Where there some choice words expelled this week????

I vote for the impeller - My doc neighbor had a new pump but picked up some crap in low water and wiped out the blades very quickly....

Striped Bass, Bluefish. If I venture out onto Long Island Sound I can still get them and Blackfish, Fluke, Bonita, and the UGLY Sea Robin.

Fishing is excellent the last few years.

Well, haul out is scheduled for Saturday the 20th. Guess I'll deal with it then when I get her home...

Well, this past weekend I trolled probably a total of 6 hours between Saturday and Sunday. No problems with the temp...

maybe something was covering the inlets? now it is gone? keep an eye on it though.

Were you fishing, or catching?

You previously mentioned that the fishing in your area has improved the past couple of years. I have also noticed that in Lake St. Clair, where we fish. Not sure what the cause is, but am not going to complain.

I make fishing look good... I had 2 hits on bunker chunks but was unable to keep them on the hook... :smt021 The weather has been GREAT, so just a slow cruise with tunes is worth every minute.

There was nothing on the intakes, I tipped the drive up last weekend and it was clean.
