Ok Sea Ray boaters. Another situation, had new gimble bearing put in, I use to do this myself got to old anyways. Mechanic put new one in after that had to go back to Boston for summer.( snowbird) Florida 8 months a year, 4 in Boston. Ok, before I left I ran engine with salt away, fog engine, top off all fluids. Came back This Febuary which u all know had a problem with charger still lmao. Now I notice I have oil in my bilge. Told mechanic who put bearing in, he said could be seal on drive shaft. Talked to other mechanics they say he could have broke the plastic fill hose. I thought if that broke oil would leak outside not in the bellows and in the bilge. Any help guys. 1999 Sea Ray Sundancer Bravo 3.

This has leaked while the boat is not running? Then I think you can rule out the drive seal - when that leaks it fills the bellows with lube that eventually comes into the bulge. Find the gear lube bottle on the engine and check the hose / fitting there (check the cap and rubber seal also, but would only leak from the cap when engine is running), then follow it back to the transom. There is a plastic fitting on the transom assembly that the hose connects to (quick disconnect fitting) that passes through the transom. Check for leaks around that fitting - be gentle with it, if you break that fitting you are in for a world of hurt getting it replaced. It's only $20 part, but it is a real PIA to replace - I have first hand experience with breaking and fixing this.

Check the level in the outdrive overflow tank... if low, check for oil on the bottom, make sure the hose on the bottom of the tank is tight. Common place to leak.

The tank had about 1/4 inch down ,was filled, checked fill hose on bottom of tank and followed it all ok.

I will see if I can find that connection I know if u break it it's a big problem. Also I don't really know if it leaks when running or when not running. All I know at this time is when it ran to clean out salt water and flush engine when I came back there was oil in bilge. So I will check the other stuff and get back.

I was sleeping.

Do you have access to check and see if the plastic L fitting going to the outdrive is leaking? I had that issue, and yes, green outdrive fluid was in the bilge.

No I am going to check it tomorrow

If it is gear oil:
plastic res bottle cracked
hose from bottle to transom fitting
inputshaft seal and/or yoke (pull drive to check for oil in bellow)

Ok checked refill cap, bottle ,followed hose couldn't find plastic fitting. So I cleaned oil and some water out of bilge. Then I filled refill bottle going to let it stay for a day and then check bilge. If no oil then I will run it and see what happens. Thanks Bill
