We've had some great weather lately, and so far I'm up to 70 hours on the engines this year, and about 60 on the generator. Let's hope August is as nice!

Thought I'd share some photos of the summer so far:

We cruised to Port Colborne (southern terminus of the Welland Canal) and stayed Sunday night at Sugarloaf Marina. Great place with helpful staff. Our dog enjoyed the near flat Lake Erie Sunday morning:

33 gph - those 8.1s love gas! My range still isn't working, I've ordered a new cable to try to remedy that.

I was surprised to see the condition of the marina at Sugarloaf when we were there in early July.
We just got out of the harbor along the grain elevators and we got a low water pressure alarm from the weeds. Must be from the warmer than usual water. Have they harvested any out? We like to go there a few times in a summer but probably won't go back this year because of that.
Nice pics, looks like you guys had a great time. I've been keeping an eye out for you when we go down the river.

Great looking pics Andrew. It sure has been nice this summer so far. When you were going through Lock 34 you were about 3 miles from my house. How far down the canal did you venture? Did you happen to stop in the Basket Factory restaurant in Middleport when you were going by.

very very nice......:smt001 great family days

Mark, it appeared that they have done some weed trimming, but they were pretty bad in the slip next to the one we were in. We should pick a day to meet up somewhere before the summer is gone.

Brian, we went past the Basket Factory, but didn't pull in. Is there enough water under those docks for us to go in there?

We went as far as Medina with 3 other boats. We had enough fun that we want to do it again before the summer is over and go as far as Brockport. Maybe next year we'd like to head down to Watkins Glen.

Thanks for sharing....the jumping in the water pic is priceless.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone.

For you diving/jumping/flopping afficionados out there, that jump is the beginning of the "Genie in a Box" jump, according to my ten-year old...

In the picture I posted of us at dock at Medina, NY, there is a trawler/tug type boat in the far right of the photo. When they 120+ year old captain was trying to dock (he barely seemed to know where forward and reverse were) he threw me a line to help. I caught it, and instantly found it was wet. Very wet. Only, it wasn't water. It was drenched in diesel. Took a quart of soap to get the stink of my hands.

What the heck do you diesel boys do if you spill some of that filthy oil?

This is all fine... you all make fun of my music but no one notices that you anchor out and swim behind a wicker basket factory in a corn field.

Hell, I haven't even started to make fun of your music! You aren't friends with David Putty, are you? No wonder everyone else stayed in bed.

As for the swimming, us poor suckers in the great Mid-East don't have much choice. With your 47 foot 50,000 pound tsunami generator, I don't think you'd fit under the 15' bridges on the western part of the Erie Canal, so unless you come in your dinghy, you won't have to swim with us...

Looks like good times Andrew! Who cares where you swim as long as you swim? Any day on the boat is a good day in my book!! Thanks for the post!
Todd
