Ordered a new car.

Well we pulled the trigger on a new vehicle. While we have a perfectly fine RAV4 XLE Premium, our daughters birthday is coming up and next Fall she is looking at going to UMD (Duluth). Those that have been to a Duluth know how beautiful it is, however Winters can be rough and we’d like her to have an all wheel drive when needed.

We debated keeping it and finding her a used Camry or Corolla (we like the reliability of Toyotas) but as some of you experienced, used car prices are just as ridiculous as new car MSRP pricing. Our RAV, if this was Trumps economy would probably be worth around $15k, which is about borderline what we would spend on her, but the damn thing is up to $20k and we’ve had it for 3.5 years…crazy. So we’re giving it to her so she’s not in debt during and hopefully after college graduation.

We took a risk and ended up buying a Subaru Outback Limited. We were considering the Touring XT with the turbo, which has plenty of power, but I didn’t want to deal with any potential turbo issues. Plus it gets about 2-3 mpg less. I already have an F150 FX4 with the 3.5 ecoboost. The Outback is a nice vehicle. It’s smoother than the RAV and quieter. (We test drove the RAV4 Premium Hybrid) The only thing we’re not crazy about is the infotainment screen and all the nannying safety features. However their 2.5l powertrain seems to be reliable and comes with a factory 10yr/100k mile and the dealership adds another 5yrs and 50k to that. MSRP of course. Also, around here there’s a Subaru stigma of being a hippy or, well, some of you may know. Maybe we’ll put a Blue Lives Matter flag on it instead of a Bernie sticker. :D
My son turned 16 just over a year ago. We bought a new Ford Ranger for him to drive. 2 month’s later him and a buddy were screwing around and totaled it. Now my son drives a bicycle.

Sounds like me growing up. Dad bought an 80’ Ford Fiesta with a blown head gasket for $100. He fixed and gave it to me. What did I do - terrorized the neighborhood, drove like a jackass and blew it up. After that I was on my own. Some of us have to learn the hard way.

I did it…. I actually bought a new car…. Took me 10 months and 4 dealerships from Indiana to Michigan but it actually happened today. My current car was a 2013 with 212,000 miles got $8,500 for it  Bought it from Lexus Toledo…. Without a doubt the best experience in my life buying a new car…. They have my business from now on.

I know not creative in the new one same exterior interior color and model but when you find something you like you stick with it….. probably why I have been married 33 years….. hopefully this car with all its technology won’t bitch text me like my wife just did as I was writing this :)

Nice, hard to beat a Lexus ES. Last year I sold my 2005 ES with 180k virtually trouble free miles. I was going to buy a new ES, but my FIL passed away and I now have his 2004 LS430 - I think I might like it better than my old ES.

I looked really hard at an LS…. Like really hard.. they had a 2019 with 12k miles ..extended warranty for $70k…. I sat in it again when they were prepping mine. It’s just a lot of car for just me… 95% of the time I am by myself….. but very nice car

Fellas I have had F250s/F350s for years and 95%+ driving by my self. However I feel safe in one, u know kinda like a pin ball machine. Probably waste a little in fuel money
but a small cost to pay for safety in my opinion.

Hi! Personally, I really love the Japanese car industry. First of all, the reliability of Japanese vehicles attracts. High-quality assembly and strict control at all stages of production provide a guarantee of an impeccable and long service life of the vehicle. Such machines very rarely fail. Even buying a used car from auctions in Japan, you can be sure of its good condition. If anyone is interested in this, I can tell you about the platform that supplies jdm import cars.

Gas or diesel?

All be diesel sir, so is the boat.

Arrrr! Those are man-trucks! I love those. I’m a fan of the ole Ford 7.3 by Navistar.

A buddy just purchased the F450 all black. Gorgeous.

I was interested in the new Ford Godzilla.

We should start a “show me your truck” thread.
