Ordered a new car.

If we're going to keep this up, we should probably start a motorcycle thread.
This is my first "real" street bike; 1972 Triumph T150. 750 triple. It would go 130mph bone-stock. 'Not bad for the time period, and it would outrun the Honda 750's that were built to dominate the British motorcycle market. I think it was more the poor workmanship and Lucas electrics that instead brought the Brits down.View attachment 124119
Unless you were a Brit…. God those guys loved their Triumphs… it was a bit scary.

A friend sent me this clip. I was told it is a practice session by a driver that drives the President around in the Beast. I've heard that that car weighs something like 6 tons or something so the powerplant in it must be something special. This is one skill the drivers need so they are ready to get the Pres. outta harms way.

Ollie, I think you outta find a quiet country road and give that new car a test.;)

'You know why the Brits drink warm beer? Lucas makes their fridges!

Ha Ha Ha.......we'll see, Ollie is gonna replicate the manuevers with his new car and report back.
Unfortunately Gents it's not my car. :( I've only driven it twice. My beautiful Irish/German strawberry blonde would have my nuts in a vice if I attempted any maneuver close to that.

Got my summer tires installed today. Winters went into storage until October. Car is on the same schedule as boats in West Michigan except it gets driven 12 months a year.

Weren’t just the Brits, back in the 70s it was all Triumphs, BSA, Norton. We looked down on Harley guys that left puddles of oil everywhere and spent 20 minutes trying to kick start them.
Then along came the Japanese….

True story. Worked a company in late 70s had a bowling team. One night after bowling and beers I had a little time trying to kick start my Bonneville. Girl I worked with, didn’t know that well, on a team, comes by and says “I’ll start it for you” and proceeds to do it. Well dam says me “I’m going to marry that girl”. And I did! 42 years and we still married. All because of a British bike.
And that is a dead true tale!

Wife went to local Subaru dealer today for an oil change. This is a brand new location they built about 2 years ago. Huge place. They have about 7 or 8 different locations. She said they had 0 new cars there and only about 10 used ones. Not a single car in the showroom

We just ordered a new 2022 Dodge Durango SRT 392 to replace our 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. The Jeep has been a great ride over the past 10 years with zero trouble. Well 2 days after we ordered the JNAP plant (Jefferson North Assembly Plant) announces that it will be going down for 2 months for re-tooling to get ready for the Jeep EV/ Hybrid platforms coming in 2025. We ordered the Durango because the SRT Jeep is already gone and we wanted one more HEMI before they are all gone in 2023. So we have a VIN assigned so we know it will be built but it will be a handful of the last 2022's built. Long live the HEMI.

It was similar at the location where I purchased “hers”. They had a 2020 with 17k miles for us to test drive. However they did have some new vehicles on the floor but were promptly sold. Luckily they had a truckload of new Outback’s in the trim we wanted on the way, so we put hold payment on one. The 2020 with 17k miles was selling only $2k less than new.

We also went to Toyota to look at the new RAV4s and Highlanders. 0 new stock and 3-9month wait. Test drove two 2019s. It’s crazy.

My grandson in Madison just turned 16 and is looking for a used car. Lots of high priced used junk to sort through. Him and his dad decided they wanted my 10yo Yukon with 220K miles on it. It's not the kind of vehicle he was dreaming of but it's in pretty good shape. Recent brakes and rotors, good tires, brand new transmission and at a price he can afford. I hope the thing don't nickel and dime him to death.
