Ordered a new car.

2018 Mustang with the little EcoBoost four-banger runs right up to 122, then the computer says "no more". Car is rock solid at that speed. 'Sucks, because you know it could go well past that if not for the computer (and stock tires that aren't rated for it).

I just went for another test drive this morning and I think we're going to stick with the NA instead of the turbo. It seems to have plenty of power for our needs and is surprisingly quiet while cruising on the freeway. Could it use a little more oomph, absolutely, however with the way we'll use it I believe it would be just fine. Plus we drove by the pump and it's $3.99 per gal. yikes

Tires were my concern. Had a '73 (I think, around then at least) Impala. Car was fast, but a boat. Got that to 120 and thought it was going to take flight. Scary. The Speed6 was rock solid. Of course my son tuned it and removed all the computer limits. I am on my 2nd Mazda 6. I have had both well over 120. Not sure what speed the governor kicks in, haven't gotten there yet. I had a Volvo S60 that hit 140 on the highway to our lake when we were late meeting some friends. That car was so quiet, there was no indication it was going that fast beside the speedometer. When I let up my wife asked me why I was slowing down. I said "I was going 140". She said "yeah, I know". I said "I don't want to go to jail". Gotta love a woman that doesn't mind going fast.

Well I did it…. Some how with a don’t need a new car attitude when I walked into each dealership …. I bought one today
Started in Indy last August at tom wood Lexus
Then went to Detroit
Then Ann Arbor
Then Fort Wayne
Then finely today to Toledo…. Jim White Lexus Toledo ….out of all the above is the way you are suppose to be treated.
There is definitely a supply demand problem out there especially over this 9 month journey. But I think what I saw was a slight weakening today. Basically everything is being sold before it leaves the factory. Used car market slightly weakening …. Slightly… new car pricing the same….
We were stuck at the end over a $1k ….. and I said no…. They came up $500. I said no…. He said are you walking over $500?…. I said are you?… he called me 5 hours later and said we had a deal :D car comes end of April

Well we pulled the trigger on a new vehicle. While we have a perfectly fine RAV4 XLE Premium, our daughters birthday is coming up and next Fall she is looking at going to UMD (Duluth). Those that have been to a Duluth know how beautiful it is, however Winters can be rough

UMD is awesome. Did my first two years there. Survived the blizzard of 91. Was even a UMD young Republican. It’s true.

I had a Suzuki Samurai with 4WD because that hill could be a bitch sometimes.

I am truly glad that you are happy and I'm sure excited about your purchase. Too bad it's a rice burner! And don't even start with that built in the US shit.

No offense Pot Stirrin bro

I don’t think you understand quality. My current Lexus that I traded for the identical car has 211k miles…. Never a single warranty or service requirement…. Original battery …it is a 2013…. 9 years old. Brakes, tires and oil changes nothing else has been touched….. why would you buy something else ?

My last 2 vehicles were lexus, traded the 1st in with 300k miles, drove it in, second went to 285k, sitting in the barn now as im not sure if its just mostly dead or all dead lol.

A truly reliable machine for sure.

Hard to fathom just a few years ago I was ordering a new F150 or Ram for 12k off MSRP without breaking a sweat...

Spoke to my car guy at Audi and the car I ordered in September has yet to be built. Audi was not building cars for a week while the company sorts the wiring harness issue. We may be looking at a 2023 instead of a 2022. At least my trade is going up in value.

Oh, I forgot about this thread. We’ve had the Outback for almost 2 weeks now. Got to drive it tonight to my brother-in-laws birthday dinner. Only 2nd time I’ve driven it. I like it. Lots of gadgetry tho….

With the new 40 mpg by 2026 standard coming out, supply chain issues and inflation, I don’t anticipate auto prices going down anytime soon.

My son is hard core into diesel pickups …. He has a side job renting dump trailers.. by the way serious money maker.
I was telling him about my experience today and he was saying Denali and high end Ford pickups are selling $12-$15k over sticker for new if you can find them. His diesel Chevy LTZ 2500 2 years old said he was just offered more then he paid for it from his dealer where he bought it….. still crazy out there

My son bought a 2021 2500 Ram Cummins diesel last summer at a large dealership. They said they normally have 300 new cars on the lot. The day we were there they had 9. 2 trucks. 1 1500 and the one my son bought.

I'd think low to no new inventory will be with us for many more years. I bought a new truck 2yrs ago and most dealers in my area had empty lots then. I bought a new Yukon yesterday from the same place and their lot was in the same condition.

Kind of a joke to drive off with a new vehicle that's loaded with gadgets and features and some of them don't work because the manufacturer can't get all the pieces to finish building it.

That’s what my son said… things like ventilated seats and heated steering wheels…. And they don’t lower the price

Subaru's are great little cars. You're okay as long as you keep the rainbow stickers out of the rear window and don't wear Birkenstocks.
What’s wrong with Birkenstocks? Other than being kinda homely. They are crazy comfortable. My wife hates them though.

My one and only speeding ticket was in my 1973 Impala. Officer said he had to do 120 to catch me. I was 17 and had that thing floored. 111 mph. I was racing another guy.

I had three of my best friends in the car and I just finished a doubleheader. It was around midnight on July 3. I pulled over but the other driver took off. Which is what really helped me.

In the backseat was a case of beer with only four bottles left. The trunk had three coolers of beer, ready for a day of water skiing on July 4.

He made us pour out the four beers, never opened the trunk. He ended up giving me a ticket for going 100 miles an hour and a speed contest Ticket.

He had gotten the other guy’s license plate, so he let us go so he could go and catch the other guy

And that's why I'm not ordering a replacement for my 2020 company car with 110k on it... no 2022 missing features for me!
