Opinions requested about inflatable dinghies....

Thanks everyone for your replies. I took a look at the dingy this afternoon and it appeared to be in excellent shape with one professional patch on the underside of the stb tube aft of the transom. The outboard is a 1987 2 stroke Merc that looks like new inside and has been repainted on the outside. It does not seem to have seen much use and is a Michigan registered vessel (fresh water). For the price we negotiated I didn't want to pass it up and knew it wouldn't last long (was only on the market 3days) so I have a Quicksilver.

I twisted open the air chamber valves and had it folded up and in my car's trunk within 5 minutes. The 8hp Merc is not too heavy at all (compared to my 9.5 Tohatsu 4stroke at home) and fit in the trunk along with the dingy, gas tank and oars. Easy peasy. I'm going to get a good 12vt inflator to do most of the heavy inflating. My car battery is in the trunk and easily accessible to power the inflator.

Hopefully it is "clear sailing" from here!

Appreciate your input guys!

I’m always keeping my eye out for a package like that.
A light and easily inflatable that weighs about 50lbs would be perfect for my use.
A 5hp Merc 2 stroke would suit me just fine too.
My 9.9 4 stroke and 130lb inflatable is way too heavy.
Not one of my best thought out purchases.

Glad you found something that works for you.

Well, the dinghy/motor combo works great! Couldn't be happier being able to get out on the water and play around with some dolphins or just cruise along by the sandy shores of Sanibel Island...
