I'm currently shopping for a 40-something express cruiser, and am considering a 460 Sundancer form the early 2000s. Any advice on what to look for, and on the strong points of this boat would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Nice boat. Up untill mid 2001 they had a water intrusion problem with the cored sides. This can be avoided by going with a late 01 or newer. If not you need to make sure the boat dosen't have this problem or that it's been fixed or that you will pay to have it fixed.

WP,
There's been a fair amount of information on the site already regarding the 460DA. To summarize, it's a beamy comfortable vessel with more owners opting for the Cummins C or CE power. They're not fast boats but can cruise around 22-24 knots for 9 1/2 hrs. before you look for fuel. The available hardtop adds value and all-weather comfort especially when the cockpit climate control is added. The engine room is tight on the starboard side but otherwise I can access everything with relative ease, including the five Racors and all on-engine filters.

Look for a mid-2001 or newer if you want to eliminate the hullside balsa core. Don't rule out the maple interior as we initially did. It brightens up "the cave". Hope that helps.
