I have a 2001 310DA with the opening side portlights in the salon. These are the ones that have the snap in screen. My problem is that two of these ports have developed leaks during a heavy rain. The rain is getting past the rubber seals that surround the inside of the port. I have tried tightning the screws on the holding latches, silicone, soft caulk, vasoline, etc., and nothing works. My question is: Has anyone ever replaced the rubber seals on these port lights? There doesn't appear to be a replacement seal in the Searay parts manual. They do list a frame only, but I do not know if the seal is on this frame and I am aware of Searay parts pricing and I would suspect the whole frame is very expensive. I am hoping for a seal only solution. Anyone out these been through this????

If you're talking about the oval portlights that open toward the inside, then yes. I had a couple leaking on my 250DA, I contacted Taylor (I think they were the mfr but can't rememeber) and ordered a set of seals and screens. Once I got the old seal out in pieces and cleaned up the frame, then using 3m trim adhesive on both surfaces and waiting for it to tack up a bit, I stuck the screen on the frame and popped the seal back in. Took about 2 hours bcz cleaning the old crap out from removing the seal is not fun.

However...

I noticed that my windows were leaking around the screws as well. I found that a couple of the screws designed to go from the interior frame to the exterior frame weren't actually making it to the outside frame.

Then I sold the boat. I meant to get longer screws and had you not posted this, I would never have remembered this. Guess I'll get hold of the new owner...

Thanks for the quick replys. After reviewing the website indicated above, looks like I have the Bomar Stainless Steel Flagship Series Portlights. Site does not appear to offer a rubber gasket replacement. I will indeed call them. I will also evaluate the fix that SkipBarnes offer. Again, thanks for the help. This will be a March project.

Just a couple of quick notes -

- Pompanette IS the company that the parts came from

- I called them direct and talked to somebody in customer service to order the parts

- 4 windows worth of parts ran about $65 2 years ago.

Good luck!
