goooood, that's what I like to see. The media is going to allow me to buy everything I want for pennies on the dollar. more panic, we need more panic.

It's all cyclical folks.

Housing is an example as usual. Yes, home prices are down, so people dont sell. Instead, they reinvest into the home they own, improving it. They will put a new kitchen in, or remodel that bathroom, sweat equity as they say.

When the housing market comes back, their homes are worth more than before the downturn. Happens continually. Stay or sell. My home is actually worth more that when we bought it 14 months ago because of improvements we have done. Not much more, and the cost of the renovations has been more than the jump in value, but when it turns around again, it will go up more than those who did nothing. Im a FIRM believer in real estate always going up in the long run. POeople will always pay a premium to live where they want to live.

Luckily, my wife and I are in almost recession-proof careers, hers as a pharmacist, and mine as the owner of an ad./marketing company, specializing in display design and production. When the economy isnt that great, clients tend to rent more, and when it is up, clients tend to buy more. Being international helps a lot, as the money from the other countries works fine for me :) COmpanies will always advertise, they have to.

The true entrepreneurs will always survive and thrive regardless of economy, and new businesses spring up. The weeding out of the half arsed players, out of date thinkers and old school economics professors get thrown out with the bathwater and the stimulation begins once again with new blood.

Same as it has ever been, same as it ever will be.

How can you have a discussion these days without politics entering the mix?

Morning paper in Jax said Sea Ray is laying off 400 positions at the Merrit Island facility. That's allot of jobs.

I really love reading all the discussions but have to agree that when fuel gets to be $4.00 a gallon and diesel at $5.00 bucks a gallon there will be less boats on the water and and many more on the market for sale.

Probably the same fate for the RV market.

If you are asking me, yes, there are a lot more overseas companies coming to the usa to take advantage of the dollar, imo. They can exhibit in a trade show for pennies on the dollar compared to a lot of European shows, and still get basically the same exposure or expand/break into the market to include the usa.

Good time to do it for them.

Heck ya, my overseas biz is GREAT. My domestic biz has fallen about 20%, but my overseas work has increased by 400%. And it just not Europe, it's all over. I actually don't mind spending $4+ a gallon if this is the result.
