You are speaking my language!
My 500 has 692 DDEC's and it sounds awesome and runs like a hot rod.
I also had a 422 Chris Craft with 671's and now am refitting a 46 Bertram with 892's.
to me there is nothing in the world like the sound of a Detroit Diesel.

People say they are oily, noisy and smoky. I disagree. I am on boa three with Detroits and they have all been spotlessly clean, they don't smoke (except at first on a cold start) they havent leaked at drop of oil or made this "oil spray" I keep hearing about. Maybe it is just me but I prefer them over CATs or Cummins and I wish you could still buy them.

That two stroke sound is pure music. Nothing else sounds anything like it.

I'm with you there, I have run a few 500 DA's with 692's (differing years and HP) and they are still one of my favorite boats to run for several reasons. Not to mention the torque around the dock!

I recall a couple years ago the marina next door brought an older 500DA over and parked it a few wells down. I knew it was a Detroit by the "firetruck" sound! VERY COOL!

Where is the oil and smoke in those videos??? ;)
