As the title suggests please post up your Bar Crossing videos to show how you handle bar crossings. Maybe put a bit of a write up on your technique to go along with it too.

Here is the Gold Coast Seaway which is the main entrance to the Broadwater on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. I will be taking my Silverton 360 down to Port Stephens in NSW in a couple of weeks time and I need to use this to access the open sea.

Paul, at the mouth of the Columbia River where it empties into the Pacific is the infamous Columbia River Bar. If you google that or search that on youtube you will find more than enough videos and stories.

Here's one that I've watched before...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Bfo3vqFvK0

:wow::wow: Gees that was bad, she went down really fast too. I understand the cutting of the winch line but surely they could have let the crewman back down first without dropping him onto the deck????

They could pay out but the basket was caught in the ships rigging. There was no choice but to let it go.

Nothing like white knuckles on the helm as you stare directly into a breaking 20' portrait of Jesus.

Paul, neither of us was there so I find it somewhat amazing that you second guess the actions they took. Faced with making split second life and death decisions, I'm sure they made the decisions they did as best they could under the horrible situation they faced.

As boaters we all owe a debt of gratitude to the USCG. They put themselves in harm's way every day so we can enjoy our sport.
