Onan 6.5 MCCK Genset

When i first start the Generator it hunts up and Down till i put a load on it or strangely just touch the linkage. Looking for a possible cause!

I have one in a Carver that does the exact same thing. Just flip on your water heater for a few seconds, and once it gets a load, it will settle down. They're old.

Check to be sure the choke is operating properly.....I bet it is stuck open.

clean, degrease and relube the linkage while your in there.

Could also be the governor oil is low. Refer to owner's manual.

That seem to be the problem clean the linkage and lube it. Also found a fuel leak from the fuel pump, Well that's todays job hunt one down and replace it. Thanks everyone!

Well called the local Onan Generator to find out about fuel pump the 6.5 MCCK. He said I can get it but it's expensive
$ 265.00 Said you're nuts!!!. So by chance i went to the auto parts store gave them the Carter part number they were able to cross reference $65.00 its the exact same one works Great.

There is also a heating element on the back of the choke cover.
