on board charger placement

Just got a 2 bank charger for my 240WE ...the batteries sit next to each other in the center
aft compartment. The shore power hookup is near the windshield on the port side
My question...
I have no engine room as such just a box cover.
My thoughts are to mount it in the aft section near the batteries.
Should the charger be mounted closer to the batteries or the hook to shore power ??
or does it even matter :huh:

Put it in a dry spot somewhat in the same area as the batteries and if they are the lead flood type, get into the habit of checking the fluid level at the begining of each month.
