Good Day,
I have a 1993 400EC that was just surveyed by the buyers marine surveyor.
The surveyor found moisture, via moisture meter, in the port fuel tank paltform. A sounding ,ballpeen hammer, by him, according to him indicates a problem. All other survey items were excellent, stringers,
decks,out of water survey etc..
I contacted Sea Ray and was told that platform is a foam filled and Sea Ray actually sent me the specs on the process, foam type dates and so on.
Has anyone had a similar survey with these findings ?
I question the surveyors finding and it looks like the buyer has freaked out and is backing out.
The broker is recommending pulling the port engine, removing the fuel tank and rebulding the platform.
I have never had significant water intrusion ( less than a couple of cups) in my bilge except in heavy rain down pours in northern Ohio area.
Thanks for any insight,

It's ok to talk to yourself, but isn't the definition of insanity when you answer yourself?

Shaun....you never seem to fail to make me laugh, thank you!

I didn't even notice the second post till I got the tears out of my eyes.

Yes, get a second opinion, and post a photo of the boat

No shaun the definition of insanity is,when you do something over and over and get the same results.

Many of the older SRs had foam in areas of the bilge for floatation purposes. When the foam got wet, structures in contact with the foam rotted over time. Owners ended up with soft floors in galleys (460 expresses) and rotted stringers in various models. Buyers are going to want a clean dry boat. You will need to lower your price or make the repair. Not good news but probably what will happen.
