old gas-will it still be good?

Do not forget to get insurance before you purchase the boat
Go up river so you can drift back if you have problems

lol. yeah, always go up river. insurance will definitely be on it as soon as we sign it over

Get the tow package from BoatUS. It is worth the cost.

No service around here...from anyone. We have to rely on each other around here. If we had their service I would definitely sign up. If we ever decide to take it to Erie I will look into getting it

. . . the surveyor . . . also mentions getting the engine checked over my a mechanic to figure out what it 'assumed' to be a bad fuel issue.

A) this discussion is a wealth of info for many, like me; B) the above is hands down the most critical thing I keep focusing on. I have ZERO experience with boats but “some” with classic muscle cars and I’ve seen “issues assumed to be due to old fuel” result in financial disaster for buyers who drink that “old fuel ASSumption” “kook-aid.”

Many, the Seller honestly didn’t know their engine had much more serious problems but, some, sadly, well, there are real pirates out there who use the ”blame it on old fuel / ethanol” ruse to really, REALLY sell some mechanical and bottomless rabbit holes of cars.

Your seller doesn’t “sound like” one of these (especially as they’re still involved in communications after you even first mentioned a surveyor) but, having the engine and carbs really dissected by a trusted and truly squared away mechanic really is at the top of the priorities list, now that you’ve confirmed the Hull is sound ...

Best o’ Success and (PLEASE!) Keep us posted!

your idle issue could be the IAC valve. It will run past idle speed but will not idle. If its been sitting, this could be the idle problem. Does it run smooth past idle speed?

That is too bad, it is quite comforting to have.
Good luck

Does this boat have an IAC with no fuel injection?

ok... your stalling may or may not be related to old fuel , i would quess it has more a carb problem on the idle jets . keep us informed !

I’d clean the tank, change 5he filters, and get the carb rebuilt by a local rebuilder just to avoid any future problems.

definitely will change filters and can rebuild the carb myself but if the lender doesn't step up not sure where we go...lol. using Essex and have been having alot of trouble getting responses from them. sent everything over yesterday but they said they haven't received the fax with the payoff info. so been emailing all day to see if they got it and no response. called sterling associates to see about going with them and been waiting several hours for them to respond. frustrating. wish i was rich so i wouldn't have to finance...lol

Line from Country song
Sing like you do not need the money
The lender is not doing you a favor you are doing him a favor
When I bought my first house lender wanted a lot of conditions I said NO they said NO LOAN I said OK they then said We will see what we can do for you. I got the loan and it was on my terms. Amount was 25,000 in 1976.
There are other boats out there

yeah. i hear ya. i started calling other lenders today but finally heard back from Essex. she assured me if i get everything back to her friday afternoon we should be able to close by the middle of next week
