I'm sure this has been addressed on this forum before but I cannot find anything on it. Just completed oil/filter changes on my 420DA Cummins 6CTA 8.3's. When I started the engines to check for leaks the port engine oil pressure gauge at the helm does not work. The gauge on the engine works and indicates normal oil pressure. Is there anything I could have done to cause this? Where do I start? Coincidence?

Thanks,

If I were to guess, I'd start with the wire leading to the oil pressure sender. You probably just bumped it while doing your service. Something as simple as a loose crimp on a wire terminal will increase resistance. The sender is a variable low ohm resister so any increase in resistance in the circuit will have a huge effect on gauge readings.

Good luck with it.........

Agreed, check the wire first but I did have to replace my port side sending unit a few years back. Just get the correct one!
