Oil level showing overfull

Really makes you question things when the numbers don't add up. That bottom line shows the dipstick overall length at 33.25 inches, but someone didn't convert mm to in correctly... that should e 35.25in.

And to the OP... were those amounts with or without oil filter change? If you pre-filled he filter, was that part of the 7qts?
When I pulled the dipstick prior to the oil change the level was well into the dipstick part number, about two to three inches above the full mark. I drained 6 quarts out, was all I could get with the hand pump and put dipstick back in, pulled it again where it showed no oil on the dipstick. I pre filled the filter and added the remaining 6 quarts and it showed way overfilled. I have yet to add the seventh quart. Seloc manual for my engine states 5 to seven quarts. Perhaps I could drain one quart out and see where the level is at.

As a side note I always strain the oil when I prefill an oil filter as to not introduce debris into the filter.

Nice catch

Looks like a copy paste error. They repeated the inch number from the line above.

Just wanted to close this thread out. Talked to a few old boat mechanics and they said when they would change oil in these old 454 mags using dipstick pumpout method they would add 4 quarts, start engine, shut off, let oil settle and then fill to correct level on dipstick. They would use this method due to the different oil pans used. I did this and I am now at the correct level. Thank you to everyone who replied.

I guess info from old boat mechanics on this site isn't good enough.
I wouldn't take it that way. I ask a lot of questions from as many sources as I can. There is a lot of good info on dipstick measurements and what others do for oil changes I can use moving foward so thanks again all for the info.
