Tryed a search but did not see same problem.... has anyone had engine oil in air filters(stock Cat filters), enough so there is minor leak coming out of filters...turbo problems? prognosis? and how to solve issue if serious, please....thanks in advance for any help or advice...... Tom

I assume you mean the Walker air sep filter. Frank W would have more info, but some oil in the filter is normal. That's how the filter is supposed to work, by recycling oil back in to the engine sump instead of blowing oil all around the ER. If you are leaking out of the filter housing you might have a bad pressure regulator (the little filter housing), an installation without enough slope back to the motor or (worst case) excessive blow by.

Let's wait to see what Frank W suggests.

my 97 has the presumably stock Cat filters(they have a Cat part #) that have no provision for draining oil that I can see... I guess the Airseps would solve problem, but they are pricey at $899 a pop at WM,I'll check with Jim to see if BOE sells them

Go direct to Walker Engineering. Still not cheap but they will clean up your engine room.

They can be installed in a morning.........if you know the "trick".

I dont have airseps, and at the qoute of 2500 parts alone I passed. I dont believe the need for airseps unless there is a noise annoyance. Its simple to keep oil from dripping down the alt and into the air filter. A bit and I mean almost zero maint. Fold up half an absorbent sheet into the size of a postcard and slide it under the breather tube. Problem solved now check it and change it as needed, no more drip.

But, Dave, you have very good 3116's and never overload your engines. A lot of these motors have a good bit of crankcase gas and it has a fine oil mist in it. That mist is the devil to clean up as it gets on everything in the bilge and the Air-Seps completely eliminate and recycle it to the oil pan.........and they significantly quieten the turbo squeal.

I don't know the current cost, but I tagged on to an order my dealer placed to give him enough units to get a price break and mine cost $800 ea.

Gotcha, I'm lucky then. Clean 3116 s and 2 green balls. Great start to Labor day weekend.

Thanks Frank

I had to replace one of my Walker Airseps last seasons. A 'COMPLETE' setup for a 3126TA including the freight to my house was $1003.25....that was the direct price to Sea Ray.

Long story short........Salt water found it's way onto the housing which caused corrosion to the unit's protective coatings. It was safer to replace than repair.

Frank...would you be kind enough to divulge the "trick" to installing the walkers, please and thanks.....Tom
