I'm at the fire house, shift ends at 0600 plus I picked up 8 hours of OT tomorrow... Baring any chaos, I'll be up all night

ok, finally found the note to join. I joined. I think Wes is heading for land. Wes, How are you going to make it around the marker with the heading you have?

Well I spoke too soon, 0229 dispatched for a house fire, it was the second trip to the same address in two shifts. Last shift the house was set on fire (vacant) and we were there for 3 1/2 hours (0200 to 0530) unfortunately we left enough of the structure for them to burn again, this time much more gasoline and it got into the attic and roof line of the adjacent structure... 0229 to 0630 and now my OT shift starts............ Damn I'm tired and these wave sounds are killing me. Let's sail boys:thumbsup:

I'm not real happy with the wind forecast tools. I tried to move into an area so I wouldn't get caught in a dead hole (like Jim is right now) and the damn forecast was wrong. I may have to do a port side tack for about 12 hours to get in some better wind.

I hope I can get this on my bridge computer... I'm off to work on the real boat and I need to adjust the sails in a few hours.

But But But.... if the weather forecasters are not reliable, how the hell am I supposed to safely get my pontoon boat to the Bahamas?

I'm about to hit some strong wind today. If I can just make it to the islands before it changes direction, I shouldn't loose much speed. Jim is in a total dead zone and has to make up some serious ground to make it around that marker. I have no idea what Wes is doing. Gary, you're in a pretty good position. slow but steady. I wish I would have figured out the wind thing a couple of days ago.

Doesn't matter.... these guys can't even predict the weather out 12 hours when it's in a COMPUTER PROGRAM!

I went to school, the sailing school of hard knocks. That plus following Gary for a few hours to get some idea of what the hell I'm doing sure helped. See even in the non-diesel blow-boat forum the big G is helpful:grin: Although he did start out with an overt threat..... I'm telling Wes

You had better watch out. I'm coming up fast. Won't be long. Your cruising at 12 Knts and I just adjusted course I'm up to 14.1knts.

I think Gary's using a motor... He's been at 11 knts all day and I've been holding steady at 14! I just can't catch him. Does Yanmar make a diesel trolling motor??

The bow on his 48' boat sticking out an extra 20' than yours probably gets him 5000 positions just for that. One of the perks of being a big boat guy I guess :grin:
