Official AXIUS Thread

I tried to upload a PDF copy of the axius install manuall that came with my boat. Page 159 has the diagram you are looking for with dimensions. the whole PDF is 26MB - too large for this website. i found the PDF copy by google searching one day. One of the merc european websites has them all. Here is the title + part number of the manual:

AXIUS & AXIUS SEACORE—496 MAG & 496 MAG H.O. WITH EMISSIONS CONTROL INSTALLATION MANUAL

90-899883345 AUGUST 2008

If you still cant find it, Ill try to upload the 26MB file to somewhere for you to download, but it is out there - which is how I found it.

I only find the user manual 90-899883345. But there's no Axius diagrams/pictures in that manual.

So If you find a way to upload, or mail it, I really would appreciate it.

Thx
Not retrofit yet, but they looking in to put a kit on the marked in 2012 according to my local dealer.
And the "879270095_AxiusBro_1009_1.pdf" states partnr for kits. So I hope to see a retrofit soon.

I still like to see picture of the Axius servo installation, to see if its room enough in my boat. If not I want to install hydraulic steering, and a bow thruster now.

I have heard the same thing from a reliable source. I believe the only requirement will be DTS so that counts me out although the upgrade price probably would count me out anyway. It will be interesting to see what the cost is. I am assuming it will have to be dealer installed.

I am surprised no one on this thread has mentioned anything about the announced Mercury Axius "White Glove" upgrade program. Mercury is sending out notices to all axius owners for a free upgrade of the VesselView and Axius software through any certified Mercury Service location. It is NOT "Gen 2" as i was told Gen 2 utilizes differenet steering hardware. This however is a major upgrade to the software. I am scheduled this week for the upgrade. Any one had this yet?

Haven't heard but just sent a check to my MM marina and I'm copying this post and will bring it with me!

I had the White Glove service last week. Vessel View is upgraded to v4.0 and the Axius software is updated. I think they mentioned something too about changing the GPS unit. So far so good and everything seems to be running very smoothly.

I just had this done too and they upgraded all 4 batteries to I think the Optima batteries. I know they don't have the water fill caps so that is a nice plus. One less thing to worry about. Not sure what else this gave me yet? Any ideas from others who have had it done?

The White Glove service worked! All my Axius kinks have been worked out and they replaced my batteries and GPS receiver Too! I was also given a Coupon for a Battery upgrade for $150. from Mercury!!

Hi Joe,

I went to see a 2010 used boat using Axius system 2 weeks ago and during the time when the captain started the engine, it showed the same massage of VVEmbedded.exe warning - "A native exception has occured in VVEmbedded.exe. Select quit and restart this program or select Details for more information".

They couldn't reset by turning off the battery and on again. But they told me that didn't show up anymore since the day after.

What happen to your case? Did your boat see any other issues afterward or this is just a message that come a rare occasion? Please let me know as I am interested in buying the boat and your feedback would be very useful for me.

Anyone has seen the same case and can give me your feedback? Please let know too. Many thanks.

Jeff

Jeff, I don't know about the 2010 model (I'm sure they upgraded the Bugs from the 2008's) but..... Make sure you have 31 series batteries and when turning the Boat "on" the Axius system alway's wants to see the Port battery Switch turned on first then the Starboard and when shutting down the Reverse!! That resets and allows the Axius to do a system check so I've been lead to believe!!

I can only speak to my boat, but the order you turn the keys or start the engines has no impact whatsoever. I have the Gen 1 system with the latest software and have never had any issues at all.

Carbo, I said the "Battery Switches"!!

I'm not sure what you mean by battery switch. My batteries are always on. I never turn the large Guest knobs off if that is what you're referring to. If my boat is at the dock, it's on shore power and the batteries and converter are working. If I'm on the water then I run off batteries or for longer than 24 hours I re charge them by running the gen for a bit. Regardless, Axius works perfectly.

Carbo… Well that's not normally the Case for Gen.1, you got Lucky! There's going to eventually be a situation where your not on shore power or Gene and you have to Shut the Power down. When you do just make sure you turn the "Guest Knob" on the Starboard side off first and the Port side Last. When you Restart…. Port Battery Bank Switch First and then Starboard!! It's like Cold Booting a Computer>

Trust me I got caught in the Point Pleasant Canal… once with a 15knt head current.. it was not pretty!!

I just put my boat in the water for the season today, and the joystick doesn't work. The error message is pretty straightforward "Joystick is not working."

The skyhook and autopilot are working, so I feel like it can be narrowed down to the joystick control itself.

Has anybody dealt with this and have any fix-it tips before the mechanic comes (taking my savings account with him)?

Have you tried a complete Shutdown? Power everything off and when you get to the Battery Switches turn Starboard off first then Port. Count to 10 and then reverse.... Port on first then Starboard etc etc!! Axius always wants to see the Port Switch on First and off Last Hope this helps,
Marshall

I haven't tried that exact procedure, but I'll give it a shot.

I did shut down the batteries last night, then turned them on this morning, but still received the error message.

And the message is almost comical in a way because it simply says, "The Joystick is not operating properly." Kind of like a "the sun will set in the west tomorrow" message.

I'm going to Google and see if I uncover anything as well, but I'll give the battery sequence a shot.

Just an update on this.

I did all of those supposed turn on/turn off/put throttles fwd/etc. maneuvers to attempt to reset. That didn't do anything.

Then, I unplugged the joystick, started it up, and still got the error.

I had a tech come over and he managed to clear the code which has the joystick working again, but his recommendation based on the numbers his computer was sharing with him is that my batteries are inadequate.

Now, they are probably 5 years old, so it's not the worst idea to replace them, but they are 675 CCA (presumably the ones from the factory), but with Axius and all its electronic glory, he said the minimum I'd want is 1000 CCA. Which I'm fine with so long as I'll be getting new ones, but it just struck me as odd that SR would install batteries that aren't optimal.
