OFFICIAL 390/40 Motor Yacht Thread

Ah ok. I am on Long Island sound. When’s that work getting started ? Be interested to see how it goes and photos if you can.

Wow that’s very reasonable. I was seeing estimates almost double that up here for virtually same work. Where are you located ? Is marina doing the work ? Did you remove your engine batches or doing it all under neath. That’s pretty cool oil pan can be pulled by just lifting the motor a little. I didn’t think that be possible plus to install new bearing and rod caps back on without raising motor up.
JM U refer to engine batches. What is that? I assume it’s a typo

Should have the pistons and sleeves out and the block cleaned up this week. Reassembly next

question, is the carpet in your salon glued down. We’re thinking, when we swap the head on the other side, it might be easier to lower it in place from above. That would mean pulling the carpet, which appears to be glued in place.

Is there hatch’s in the floor for access. I have a gasser and never noticed this.

So yes. I meant hatches. Once you pull the carpet up, which isn’t horrible , there are hatches Sea Ray has for lifting the motors out. You will need to remove the stairs and the starboard couch to fully remove them. But they are factory installed and just siliconed in place. Once you cut the silicone the hatches will
Lift right up and allow full access to the motors.

So 22k is material and labor. Having East coast diesel perform the work right?

JM390 are you on schedule for being ready come spring? I hope all is going well. I'm actually reassembling my aftercoolers and oil coolers today. Slowly checking items off my list.

Hey Craig . Ya might be a little delayed but shooting for late April early May launch time. I was going to do my after coolers too. May reach out to you on that. Looks pretty straight forward.

Yep 22 and change is labor and material for all 6 cylinders (pistons, rings, bearings, sleeves, head, new injectors and turbo. East Coast Diesel is doing the work.

Great price. Keep us posted on progress. Sound great.

Has anyone replaced the stripes on the hull sides? The 3.5 inch black and 3/4inch tan/champagne color stripe? Got some color charts but that top stripe is a odd color. not quite silver, not quite champagne

We have a 04 390 my, anyone know what zincs are needed ?

Aftercooler (2 each)
Heat exchanger
Generator

transom
Trim tabs
Shafts (not recommended by sea ray, but I use them)

I get them from USA zincs

Roger, I had them all changed when I bought the boat, but I forget where they all were. I know on the 44 I just looked at, they are only on the tabs and the transom. I know the 44 doesn't have any on props or shafts.

Assuming u have Cummins 480s, shafts are 2”, and 4” Zincs on the trim tabs.

I should have said it’s a gasser.

Not sure, but you can download the parts manual off the Sea Ray web site

Reassembly to start this week, followed by swapping the head on the other side
