The Raymarine has the screws on the backside of the unit. They can usually be turned by hand.Amajamer, Great upgrades on your boat. I will look into the Mercruiser gateway set up after I do a couple of other upgrades. I am getting a bow and stern thruster at the end of the year and will pull the boat for bottom paint.
I do plan on an upgrade to a second Garmin chart plotter with radar. What size did you flush mount in place of the old Raymarine radar? It is a beautiful set up. Also, how do you get the panel off to remove the old Raymarine. There are no screws visible from the outside.
Thanks!
The two Garmins that I have are the 7612xsv and a 942. The boat already had the 7612xsv installed and the panel behind it has been replaced, I believe. Both the chartplotter and the panel sit in the fiberglass cutout rather tightly, but not fastened. If the Raymarine chartplotter is held in place with threaded studs and knurled finger nuts, like the other Raymarine electronics, you might be able to reach in and up from the fuse panel access door to get the unit out, but better access will come from pulling the helm switch panel off and rotating it back out of your way.Amajamer, Great upgrades on your boat. A bow thruster would be a nice feature indeed! Sometimes it would be great to just nudge the bow a bit to keep her backing in straight in a cross wind.
I've attached some pics of the project:

Yeah, it's nice to have one directly in front of you. I like to have a zoomed out chart on it, and a zoomed in chart and separate radar on the 12" plotter.Really, it look s awesome, I love the new switch layout and the convenience of having the mfd centered instead of always looking off to the left...
I put the Fox marine gateways in last year and love the data. I have put in the Garmin 7612 xsv, but I have a question. I would like to see the RPM output as a digital number instead of the bar graph. I went through all the Garmin canned gage layouts and I can't find one that displays RPM as a number. Have you figured out how to display the RPM digitally on the 7612?Yeah, it's nice to have one directly in front of you. When selecting a new guage, you can opt for analog, digital, or hybrid. Try selecting digital. That should give you what you are looking for.I put the Fox marine gateways in last year and love the data. I have put in the Garmin 7612 xsv, but I have a question. Looks good Chris, were they easy to get off.
Nice work there, Chris.
Amajamar, I see you have a Garmin network expander under the dash there. Is this because the radar uses one of the network inputs in the back of the unit so you cannot network your two MFDs without the port expander? I am adding a 942 to the center of the dash, like you have done and I just want to make sure that is the reason that you have the network port expander. I don't have AIS yet, but I didn't think that needed to be on the Garmin network, just NMEA. Please let me know if I have this wrong.
Thanks,
Paul
The OEM anchor is a 35LB Delta "style" anchor. I don't recall the manufacturer off the top of my head, but a 35lb Delta anchor would be a similar replacement, IMO. Not sure if the original could be re-galvanized or otherwise. The 380 I bought this fall has a rusty anchor. Anyone have suggestions on replacements or tips on restoring the existing one?
Little bit of updating here. All hull stripes removed, and badging updated.
