Official 370 Venture thread

Todd, maybe you misunderstood what I was asking or I'm misunderstanding what you wrote but I do not own a 37' Venture. I'm looking to buy one. I'm looking at Sea Ray cruisers and the fact that this has outboards is very appealing to me. The 320 Sundancer is also very high on my list.
I mixed up the two posts! It was @Escape Cay II that was looking to sell a 370 and downsize to a 30 footer! Sorry about that... I read that post, then yours, and put the wrong user in my post, sorry for the confusion.

Personally from my research and testing, I would go with the props I mentioned above.

When I had put 4 blade props on my 370 it had great torque and handling at low speeds but it was worse for getting on plane and running it.

I have the 4 blade revolutions (15" pitch) and think I really need to change to the Enertia 3 blade 13" pitch. Has anyone else done that?

I had a coil fail last year and replaced that one only, but put in all new plugs. Now I hear that Mercury recommends to replace all coils if you replace one. IS THAT A FACT?

About to replace my batteries in my 370 Venture. Has anyone used these?

Just got our 2014 370 Venture in the water here in NJ a few weeks ago. We had to wait for Marine Max to fiberglass the aft transom area where the engines mounts. Turns out when they made this boat, they did the traditional attach the hull and the deck via screws and vinyl material. Even where the engine mounts in the wells. Last year when we were at anchor and we had people on the sun pads and swim platform, as you all know water flows into the engine wells. It was slowly leaking into the bilge area onto the engine ignition fuse boxes stupidly located on the transom. Sea Ray replaced it all with fiberglass and Marine Max relocated all the hard to get fuse boxes to a better location in the bilge at no cost what so ever. We did buy her new, although she is way out of warranty as she is a 2014. Very impressed with Sea Ray and Marine Max for this one!! This really is the only issue we have had with the boat in 6 years. We have over 400 hours on the engines and have been basically everywhere for overnight stays and daily cruises. Find me another 37 foot express that cruises at 35 mph and handles like she does. I have no idea why they stopped making this boat??

do you still have the factory 3 blade props on your boat?

Just asking members of this group a rhetorical question ... what is your degree of happiness with you 370 Venture? What issues do you have that could be improved or need change?

PROP CHANGE IS A MUST! I’d also have liked larger fuel tanks and a diesel generator. My thoughts.

Posting for a friend who owns a 2017 Sea Ray 370da. He his having issues with low water pressure in the head sink. The other faucets have good pressure (I think there is one other one that is low pressure). He believes there is an obstruction in the head faucet and cannot figure out how to unhook the lines or remove the faucet. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. I think it may be a water pump going bad. Are there two water pumps or one on this boat. The boat is two hours south.

The faucets on my 370 Venture have a removable "spray tip" on the discharge of the faucet. Has small holes which tend to plug up, maybe due to the hard water (high mental content) we have here in the panhandle.

Has anyone replace the factory galvanized anchor with stainless? If so (or if you have a stainless anchor) what size/make/type anchor is yours? Last year we were rafted up with a similar size boat on my Galvanized anchor (factory) and when I got home, I realized my anchor main shaft was bent. Looking to replace. Help?

I have to thank all the guys here who "talked me" into changing props!!! I am amazed and so happy that I did this. Te"st ran the new props today and performance was astoundingly improved! Even fuel economy was greatly improved. MPG went from 0.7 to almost 1.0 at 28 mph. I can't believe I suffered this long without doing this!!!

New props installed 6-26-2020
Enertia (15.6 x 13") MERCURY RH Propeller, 48-8M0070074
Enertia (15.6 x 13") MERCURY LH Propeller, 48-8M0070076

The previous owner had changed from factory props to Rev4 with 15-inch pitch ... wrong direction Here's what Mercury says about Rev4 props: "The Revolution 4-blade stainless steel propeller hooks up the power for V-6 outboard walleye, pontoon and single or dual center console and sterndrive pontoon, sportboats and single or dual performance boats. For V-6 outboards and Alpha and Bravo One and TRS sterndrives."

Going to put the old props on eBay

Escape Cay,
I am interested in the 370 Venture as my next boat.
My concern was the same one brought up on this forum several times. Per Boat Test the boat doesn’t plane until 5000 rpm and by then you are doing over 30 mph.
Great news on your change of props making such a big difference. Could you please tell us what minimum rpm it now takes to get the boat on plane. And what speed are you then doing. Any additional info regarding your new performance numbers would be very appreciated.
Thank you

...Following as I am closing next week on a Venture. Priority is to purchase new props. Thank you, Escape Cay for the information. In addition, to all the captains who posted on this thread. I have been following this site for some time – it really facilitated when it came to survey.

@ Clearwater – let me know if I can assist with any of the current listings. I have a recent survey conducted June 16, 2020 on the Venture currently listed with MM – Wrightsville. Feel free to message me.

I look forward getting to know my fellow Venture proprietors.

Hey! Glad to explain. So you understand, these Verados are high speed motors by design. They are only 2.6 liter 6 cylinders. They are supercharged to get the 300 horsepower. They are designed for high rpm and 5000 rpm is just fine. With new props (not original equipment) my boat now planes very well at 28-29 mph and 5050 rpm. I haven’t tried slower cruise speed because I like a little faster. WOT is now about 39 mph at 6400 rpm. (See previous post for prop data.). The main improvement is time getting on plane. The other thing with Supercharged Verados is being sure to replace all 6 coils when changing spark plugs. I had my boat for sale for a year until these changes proved so effective. Now I’m so happy with it. SeaRay’s current similar boat is the 320 Sundancer Outboard. It is similar weight with 350 Verados. I haven’t seen the Performance test results on it.

2013 370 Venture. Does anyone know where the cockpit stereo amplifier is located? The starboard side speakers have a loud buzz in coming from them both.
