Official 370 Sundancer thread

... On the starboard side, a leak under the arch seam caused the floor in the side hatch to rot out.....

I had leaks on both sides of the arch base, in the cockpit when it was raining. I located the leaks at the base of the windshield frame, at the back. I removed the filler stuff, put new silicone in the inside of the frame, let it dry, put back the filler stuff and it fixed the problem.

I got a great pic of Aarrhh & Aarrhh at her new dock that Jason and I re-arranged for her. If you don't like this pic Jason, let me know and I'll remove it.

Gene, I was just checking out the web page again. Great job.

FYI- 1998 "Six Bucks" is now " 2 Silly Knot 2"

Aarrh & Aarrh, you really nailed it on the camper canvas! I think that's one of the best looking ones I've seen. It fits well with the look of the boat and doesn't look like a station wagon. I love the amount of space I gained with mine but I'm not real happy with the look from the back. If I had to do it again I would copy yours. Looks great:smt038 Mark

I added pics of my flat panel install to Gene's site, 370Sundancer.com.
Look under 1997 boats and Adagio. I removed the TV from the base. I then got a galvanized framing jig from Lowe's, so that I had a strong 90 degree angle for the 2"x4's. Countersunk screws under the base and drove them into the 2"x4"s. Screwed the framing jig into the base. Through bolted a swivel flat panel arm and attached the TV.

Sorry, I've been tied up for the last few days and unable to post. :smt101 Nothing to do with the election, I'm mostly apolitical - maybe I'll explain someday.

Anyway, there currently is no way to add pictures directly to the site. If you send them to me with any info you want me to add, I will do it. Right now, I've got a number of pictures to put up as well as finishing putting up the rest of my collection of 370's.

So if you are looking around and see your boat on the site, let me know and I will update it. Got additional pictures? Just send them to me. There's a contact form on the site too, so don't be shy.

As soon as I'm done with the preliminaries, I'll be looking to add more pictures of customizations and figure out a way to let others add their info directly. I'm having fun doing this right now, but I've got a day job too! (You'll never guess.)

Gene,
Thanks for putting up my flat panel installation pics.

Gene, you're doing a great job! Take your time. I've been going through the pics and looking at about 10 boats each night but I have a long way to go. I can't believe you have so many pics. How long have you been collecting them? Mark

Great job Gene...........suggestion, in your website, how about a catagory of CSR 370DAs. That way members of CSR wouldn't have to wade thru all the other boats to see a CSR 370.............just a thought.......... I've got tons of pictures of my boat, I'm going to send you some, how do I do that?

John

Gene, you mentioned in an earlier post about putting pictures up of just customizations or mods in a separate file. That would be very helpful. Look what you got yourself into! You give an inch, we take a yard! Mark

No problem. This is fun after all.

I started looking for a 370 during the summer of '06. A friend turned me onto the YachtWorld.com site and I just started shopping. I studied the descriptions and pictures to figure out what I was looking for. And then in the fall of '06, I snagged a great deal in Fla and trucked the boat to CT. Being a little obsessive compulsive and believing that I couldn't have gotten that great a deal, I kept the database I created up to date until only the end of this summer. I'm still ahead of the market. I found SRO just as it closed down and then this place shortly thereafter.

That's a great idea. I'm sure I could do that except I don't know how many CSR boats I have in the collection. I'm aware of only a few. So youse guys are gonna hafta to tell me who's who.

Another great idea. Someone get together a list. I can think of a few; TV's, canvas, electronics, flooring (I'm considering a teak & holly floor); I'm sure there are more. I'm also working on a "links" page - here, Sea Ray's archive library, etc.

I don't have a way to let people add photos directly. So, anyone who wants to add photos, just pm me and I'll give you an email address to send me yours.

OK, I need to ask a technical question now. I've asked it before elsewhere, but never really got a good answer to the question and maybe I'm just not asking it correctly.

I did my own winterization this year now that I'm pretty familiar with the boat. I've already made my list of de-winterization items for the spring. I still don't fully understand the Mercruisers. I repowered my old boat myself some years ago and it had Crusaders. Those engines had heat exchangers with a pencil zinc on the raw water side. My spring list includes replacing zincs, but I can't find one on these engines. Nothing in the manual and every fitting I've checked so far is just a brass plug. No sign of an engine zinc fitting anywhere.

What am I missing? Any ideas?

Gene

Gene, that's a good question. I had Crusaders in a past life and remember having several pencil zincs to replace each year. On my Mercruisers I'm not aware of any pencil zincs in the system and have not replaced any. Did the plug you removed from the heat exchanger have a female thread on the inside of it or was it just a solid plug? Mark

None of the Mercruisers that I have owned ever had any engine zincs either......RWC or FWC. I have had model year Mercs 1983, 1989, 1993, 1998 and 2002....5.7, 7.4 and 8.1. My CATs, on the other hand, have 13 zincs each!

Don't some of the later Mercruisers have zincs in the exhaust manifolds, fuel & transmission coolers? I think they would be in 6.2 or 8.1 powered boats and very likely in those with aluminum castings in those components.

I don't know....just asking.
