Official 370 Sundancer thread

Has anyone experienced an engine not starting after use.
More specifically, if i jump aboard, it fires right up. If I drive for 30-45min, anchor for an hour or two, my port motor won't crank. Wait overnight and it fires up no issue.
Power comes on, but nothing at all when depressing the start button (not even a click).
Self diagnosis is making me think slave solenoid failure with heat soak, but wanted to bounce it off some others.

Thanks
Cheap and easy. I keep a couple on board. Could be other things, but.....
If you have 2 people, you could try tapping it with a screwdriver handle while trying to start as a test.

Thanks for the quick reply. Screwdriver test results in cranking. I'll go shopping today!!

i had the same issue. Was a loose cable near the starter. Thought was 90amp fuse. Replaced but exact same issue as yourself. Tapping screwdriver looked to fix it but not always.

I'll go have another thorough look at those cables. Thanks for adding that in.

Quick question-does anyone know where they might have hidden the fluxgate compass on the factory electronics package for a ‘97 370? Are there two compass senders for the pilot and the radar? I think there’s a sender by the pilot, but it looks kinda jenky. CFEAE088-EAEF-4E49-B71C-9F8F7A5EE0BC.jpeg

That is your engine sync module that drives the sync gauge in your dash. The fluxgate compass is usually as midships as you can get it, and as low as you can get it. I have found it in the same cavity in the helm as where the sync module is, and I placed it in the cabin, behind the mid-cabin curtain, near the steps. That was ok, but eventually I purchased a replacement helm compass that is digital, and provides heading info via NMEA-0183 to the autopilot. That one is rock solid. You could try tracing the wire from the autopilot "brain" box and see where it leads. I've also see them mounted on the transom in the engine room between the engines. Not sure what all that iron did to the accuracy.

I’m gonna trace the wires. Good point, I should look at a digital compass.

Well, we did it. Made and had accepted an offer on a 1998 370. Contingent on survey and sea trial, of course.

950 hours on 7.4l horizons. Have I lost my mind?

It never went through but I had a contract on the same boat for 60k 2-3 years ago. Crazy how much the pricing has gone the other way.

Don’t be depressed. Markets fluctuate. Boats are in high demand right now. Covid has done a lot to more than just the stock market. Also, look at the price point for new boats these days.

Totally fair. And it’s ticking all the boxes so it’s all good.

I saw the same thing with one listed on Facebook. Last year listed at $65,000. Now listed at $95,000 by new owner. Crazy.

Yeah, but some sellers are asking stupid prices these days. Especially with $5.00/gal gas around the corner.
