Official 370 Sundancer thread

I stuck with Mercruisers to make sure engine mounts didn't have to move, and it would bolt right up to my V-Drive trannys. Engine harness cable plugged right in. If your volvos are substantially less, then perhaps you can live with modifications. Mercruiser has a repower program and division that I would at least investigate.
I have a line on a pair of low hour volvos, excellent condition. remans form merc would be 3-4 times the price. that's why im wondering if anyone can tell me exactly what would need to be done to make it work..then ill have an idea of whether its worth it or not

Hey there captains. Been a while... Does anyone know the brand and model number of the stainless guide / rolller assembly that holds the anchor on our 370s? 1997

I see you're not getting a lot of action on this line of questioning :) I'd imagine you'll end up saving a lot less than you think if you switch to Volvo's. I'd be shocked if they bolt right up to your v-drives but I really have no idea. In addition to the potential issues with the drives you will want to look at your controls as well. Will you have to replace your entire helm to accommodate Volvo's? Tachs, oil pressure, water pressure - are those interchangeable? Throttle controls? Are the Volvo cooling systems intact, just connect to thru-hulls? Were the Volvo's previously on IO's or inboards?

Final thought - shop harder for the merc, if you're getting 3-4x vs a reman Volvo there is something wrong with the Volvo's (my opinion only)...

Best to talk to the one(s) who will do the swap. They either know, or they don't. If it's you doing the work, I'd talk to both Mercury and Volvo. Tell them what you are doing, and they will help if they can.
Exhaust type, size and routing, bell housing compatibility for transmissions, harness to helm, physical clearances, and whether they are both the same basic technology would be my first questions. Pretty sure raw water intake is completely different in location, but that's just hoses.
Any rate, good luck. Took me a year, but I found exact drop in's for 11K for the pair, 200 hours each MAG MPI EFIs. Still had to baby them back to life, which took another 6 months, because I didn't know the complete history of them, and had to undo the yard guy's mis-adjustments trying to get them running enough to collect the money.

I agree -
I had a '97 and can't count the number of days that I wished I had a higher arch design and FI
I am 6’2” and have about 6” above my head

What brand and model did you use to fill that space? Have to mod the cabinet?

I'm pretty sure it's a dometic. I did not put it in, the previous owner did, but I'm going down this weekend and I will take pictures and give you all the information. It appears to fit I don't think there were any modifications done that I'm aware of.

Are you looking for the factory reading lights? If so what do yours look like I replaced all of ours and have the original ones in a box.
