Official 330 Sundancer Thread

Hi All

I am looking into upgrading my Bennett trim tabs from the current 18 inch x 9 inch ones to the largest possible as I am unable to get the enough nose down trim with the existing tabs at full stretch

If anyone has had a similar problem and found a solution then please let me know ASAP

Does anyone have their 330 out of the water at present that would be able to measure what the maximum tab width would be ?

Thanking you in anticipation

TC

Can any of the folks on this thread give me some hints on a transom shower replacement, or at least some info on a replacement handle for the shower? Ours looks original from 1997 and its only held in by the water connectors...

Any insights are appreciated! Thanks!!

Please tell me what you have found wrong or being a VLPITA to you

TIA

Interested in your tab re-design sounds interesting. Our 97 does enjoy running with some tab all the time. As for 4 blade props I changed ours over to 4 blade as soon as we got the boat. I ran her with 3 blade on the sea trial. 4 blade are night and day different. Idle speed and around the dock is much better, they bite and respond instantly now. She gallops down the fairway in idle with the 4 blades.

Our boat still has some significant bow rise getting up there but the props help push her over so she stay bow high a bit less...

We were out in some tight chop last weekend and she rode much nicer then our old boat in it..

Hi All

I have a 1998 330 and in need of a port side air intake cover is there anyone out there with info to help.

Are the moulds still available to make new ones ?

Tony,
If you mean the plastic trim pieces on each side of the stern that are intake and exhaust blower vents for the engine compartment, they are no longer available through Sea Ray - they are discontinued after 10 years. I also tried the manufacturer (forget who it was) to see if the molds or any 'extras' were still around - no luck. Only possible source that I can think of is salvage or make a mold if you can 'borrow' one. Sea Ray can give you part numbers - but it does no good at this point.

Thanks All for the responses

I have spoken to a local GRP shop and they said they would make me new ones, and although the cost was a bit steep for the one off items if there is anyone else interested in new air intake covers I would like to hear from you as we could get a batch made up and split the cost accordingly.

The port engine compartment vent cover broke on our 1995 330DA right after we purchased it. I tried to find a replacement, new or used, but never could. Per the Sea Ray dealership they no longer stocked them and they had to be made to order by the manufacturer. Unfortunately I had to pay for both the port and starboard vent cover as the manufactuer will not make just one.

So, I have a brand new, stilll in the bubble wrap, starboard side engine compartment vent cover if anyone needs one.

Hi another stupid newbie question on my boat. DOH (Edited RTFM...)

Also the cylinder mounted in front of the genny I assume is the muffler for the genny right?

Thanks for the response

Can you let me know who made the part for you as I need the Port side although the Stb side does have a small crack in it and if the part is the same as mine I would be interested in it.

We are in between houses and my file cabinet is in storage so I do not have access to the receipt. I ordered the covers from a Sea Ray dealer, Brownings in VA Beach, VA.

Wow, I never notice this thread until now. I guess it's not a sticky, so it moves around according to activity?

Anyway, glad to see that there is a thread for 330 owners! We just got a '95 330 Sundancer w/V-drives behind Bluewater 454's with 435 hrs on engines and 180 hrs on the genny. Was kind of holding out for the tuunel v-drives since we don't do a lot of high speed runs on the river, and the manuverability is fantastic compared to our old outdrive equipped Sunrunner. The previous owner that we know personally from the marina had this boat for 3 years and fixed it up very nicely for us. New full camper top last year, new water heater, teal carpet out, and tan in. We already have the galley and aft "furniture" pulled for re-upholstry to get rid of the rest of the teal.

Have had her for about 3 weeks now, and don't regret a thing!

Well no stickie but me being a pest and posting stupid questions keeps it going!! We just purchased a 97 and are getting to know it better. You should post some pics of your remodel, I can only imagine the teal look and what you have changed.

MrRobinson could you share your experience around re-power with your Jasper engines. I imagine that is something I will need to do in the future and am interested in your experience!! We have about 680 hours on our engines so I don't think its time yet... Few more seasons of caring I hope!

Getting a new water heater on ours shortly I hope. Those 15mm whale compression fittings, that grey compression ring in the ER I don't know how well they hold up. They sure are easy to get apart and put together, I see that some of mine around the hot water heater did not have the clips around the grey sleeve. The new whale fittings that I purchased don't have the clip either, but have ears around the base so you twist the grey collar and it rests on the ears preventing it from backing down. That looks a lot better then dealing with clips that I bet are going to crumple the minute I try to get them off...

Any one want to offer tips on how to access the bow rail stanchions bolts from in the cabin. I see some access panels and some in the hanging lockers are visible. What about the ones back by the fuel fills, around the helm, and up by the forward berth, do the panels just snap out to get at them. This looks like a LOT of fun since the stanchions are mounted at an angle on our boat...

680 hours and you are thinking of re-power? They are just getting broken in!! Our last boat was a 1987 310 Sunrunner with twin 305's. 5 years ago when we bought it, there were 1300 hours on it, and it ran flawlessly, and never burned a drop of oil. Sold with app. 1500 hours with no change in performance or oil usage. I figure I have about 10-15 years of "mileage" left on this boat since we don't do a lot of long range trips. We "putts" a lot, but put the hammer down occasionally to blow the cobs out!

This may have been asked elsewhere but for the older Sea Rays is there a decent vendor/supply for the striping? My striping above the waterline has worn where the lifting straps rub against the hull. I guess I could match up with generic colors.

Also, has anyone had any experience in replacing some/all of the canvas from Great Lakes? Would you recommend Great Lakes or have them made locally. The quote I received from Great Lakes was roughly $2000 for all of the std./oem pieces...I thought this was pretty reasonable but I have nothing to compare this to.

Thanks for all of your help, a couple of members on this board were a big help to me last year diagnosing some a/c and generator issues...

Great lakes redid my canvas last year and did a fantastic job! I didn't replace the the two pieces which attach to the arch because they were in fine shape. This may save you a few dollars ($200-300)

I, too, need some restriping so let me know if you find a supply!
Thanks,
Stuart

THANKS for the vote of confidence on the hours. Hopefully the PO did take care of them. :smt038

I ordered them from a Sea Ray dealer. They no longer stock them; they have to made by the manufacturer and you have to buy both of them as they will not make one.

Source and specs for 4 Blade props

Many of you are saying to go with 4 blade props for the 330 with 7.4s and vDrives. I think the stock props are 16x16. What are the specs of your 4 blades and where did you get them?
