Official 330 Sundancer Thread

At the end of the season, I disconnect my water feed from the fresh water tank to the pump (see arrow below). I would expect that the water from the tank would free flow into the bilge, but no water exits the open pipe. However, my pump is able to pull water from the tank. Is this normal? Is there some kind of a value that requires a pull from a pump to allow water to flow?

You might be on to something... thought I might have a picture. All I could find was the fill hose.... Few Screws in the aft cabin and you can see how it is set up, water tank located under the rear bench.View attachment 72695
Nice picture! I think that sums it up. If the pump was mounted closer to the bottom of the tank, it wouldn’t have so much “head” to pull up. It would probably provide much better flow. However, you wouldn’t want the pump sitting in bilge water either ;)

Hi all,

I recently got a 1996 330 so i guess i belong to here now.

The whole process has been a nightmare. A good friend of mine for over 6 years that happened to be a boat mechanic offered his help. This is my first time with a sport cruiser, and little did I know his "free help" was not free at all, I insisted of him getting paid but he wouldn't have it.. probably because he was already over charging for everything. Since I thought we were good friends i trusted him blindly and the boat has been at a marina out of the water for over 2 months. I ended firing him and I am now suing him for everything he stole.

Does anyone know where i can find this reducing bushing that goes on the windshield wipers? I went to a local marine dealer and was able to find the wipers, but one of these bushings broke.

That might be a tough one. Maybe try cleaning it up? Otherwise I would try grainger or McMaster carr.

Edit. Reading is a skill -- bushing broke.

check your water pressure senor by the distributor. If it is fault in will shut motor down and or limit rpm's. Check your impellers on sea water pumps also. If it is getting hot could be a water problem or sensor problem.
Do you have a picture of the water pressure sensor ??

I noticed my air conditioning system thru-hull is a bit old and starting to crack. Does anyone have a part number for a replacement thru-hull? Also, is this something that gets replaced with just 5200 sealant?

Also...we started spraying Break Free on the manifold and riser bolts today...getting ready for that party come Saturday!

Just replace it with one the same size. Go stainless and never worry again! Don't use 5200. It is permanent (will damage the hull if you try to take it off) and too strong. 4200 or Lifeseal is all you need.

Good afternoon from New Orleans, Louisiana I am new to the Club and look forward to being a member for many years to come!

I am a new owner of a very, very nice 1996 Sea Ray 330 but am having a problem with the starboard engine stalling after running well for about 1/2 hour. It happens every time now usually after powering down to an idle and starting maneuvers. but sometimes the engine stalls out even after sitting a dockside with engine running at 1500-2000 rpm in neutral. Then after stalling I cannot restart the engine until the next morning. Port engine is a real champ and gets me home every time!

Engines are 1996 454 cid Mercruisers with 4 barrel carburetors. Engines were rebuilt 5 years ago and seem to be in good shape with only 850-900 hours.

Fuel seems good and Filters are new and clear of any sediment.

Any ideas on what maybe heating up after 1/2 hour of running and causing the engine to stall out and not be able to restart?

Thanks and regards,
Eric Alber

Welcome aboard. I had the same problem on my boat a few years ago. It took a bit of trouble shooting but turned out to be the fuel line in my case. The inner lining was separating from the outer lining & collapsing on itself under vacuum cutting off the fuel supply. My hoses were rated for the ethanol gas but apparently that was fake news. Your mileage may vary.

Todd,
Thank you very much for your reply. This is highly appreciated and sure I will look into this.
I was previously hunting down the path of a fuel vaporization lock, so I covered the starboard fuel input line in a heat sheath and ran it away from the valve cover as much as possible - but this indeed not do anything.
I actually grew up in Northport, LI. So my best regards to all the Islanders.
Thanks, Eric

The way the mechanic diagnosed it was by hooking up an outboard tank right to the carburetor & bypassing the inboard fuel system. She ran like a champ! We replaced all of the fuel lines to both motors after that.

Transom Shower valve on late 90s 330DA:

Has anyone found a way to fix drip leaking or replace the valve on the transom shower? Mine does not leak when closed, but when using it, water drips around and under the hot/cold handle, so its the valve that is leaking. Not critical but its annoying to me. I would alos consider replacing the valve if someone has figured out a simple replacement.

This is what I used for the mixer. https://www.scandvik.com/index.cfm?method=products_detail&productID=82

This is what I used for the sprayer. https://www.scandvik.com/index.cfm?method=products_detail&productID=38

Both hooked up without much hassle. The only other thing I did was to machine a stainless thru hull fitting to match the contours of the mixer for the sprayer holder. I also opened up the ID so that the sprayer would fit down inside it farther. Sorry, I couldn't find a picture, but I will try to take one tonight.
