Official 330 Express Cruiser / 340 Amberjack 1997-2003 Thread

We put a 4” memory foam topper over the berth area. We never use the table in that area so I replaced the table with a carpeted piece of plywood, since the table was never real stable.

It is much much better than just the cushions, but still not like an actual mattress.

To make a topper, buy either a California king or standard king size. Neither is quite big enough. The California is not wide enough and the regular King is not long enough.

Make a template and cut to size. An electric turkey knife cuts the foam cleanly. If you plan correctly you can use the cut pieces to fill the gaps in length or width. 3M spray adhesive bonds the foam very well.

Many toppers have a stretchy fabric cover. I was able to get it over the new odd shaped topper I built. I used a standard King.

With all of that said, we recently ordered a new King foam bed for our home and I plan to construct a full depth foam mattress for the boat with our old one. (Like I said much better, but still not ideal. We have stayed on the boat for a week with the topper.)

From Amazon:
Best Price Mattress 4" Memory Foam Mattress Topper,
Awesome thank you for the tip

My Amberjack came with a custom mattress from previous owner. The Admiral likes the berth mattress better than the one at home!

New to the forum!....just signed up today. I'm in the middle of a purchase of a 97 330 EC that was surveyed yesterday. We're super excited as we've wanted one of these for quite some time. A few things popped on the survey but the hull, transom, and stringers were dry....phew! Areas of concern were around windlass, decking around windshield, and some spots on the bulkheads between engine compartment and the cabin. I've read in various places on the internet that the hull on these are cored but my surveyor stated it was solid fiberglass hull. Can anyone speak to the hull construction? Also, sounds like the deck area around the windshield and windlass areas being wet are known issues. If anyone can shed any light on those I'd love to hear it. Would def like to have the issues taken care of.....and I know it's going to be big $$$. Thanks in advance and look forward to sharing on this forum once I dig into this rig.

Welcome aboard !! The 330 Hull is solid fiberglass the 370 is cored, the wet areas you speak of are not structural but expensive to have done professionally, sea ray has been known for their lack of sealing deck hardware ....

Area around windlass is going to be expensive. I looked at a few that has rot in that area, quotes to fix it were around 4k. I had an 2x2 section of my deck recored (poor bedding on carpet snap) and part of arch rebuilt (poor bedding on VHF antenna) and had about $3500 in it.

I have an '03 Amberjack 340. I cant figure out how to discharge the black water from holding tank...The seacock is open, I set the breakers on for discharge pump, and engage the discharge pump switch in cabin. I can hear the macerator but nothing comes out. Any thoughts.

4k to fix via which method? Dryboat or conventional tearout? I figured between $5K-$10K to do the area in front of the windshield as well as the area around the windlass.

conventional. Area from foot switches to windlass. Not included in quote was cost to get boat to a repair facility.

I have a buddy with a bunch of core rot/delamination around his hatch on bow of 340DA. It’s a bigger area than mine with the molded diamond gelcoat. He has a quote for $8k to repair.

Need some help, the previous owner bent the stainless anchor piece that holds the anchor and I’m trying to figure out how to access those bolts does anybody know how?

Mine was also bent when we got our boat.

On a 97 they are not all bolts. Some were big pan head screws.

I had a friend straighten the stainless (press at machine shop) and I through bolted all of mine.

I contracted the removal/ installation of the nuts to my youngest son (seven at the time). He crawled down in the anchor rode locker and laid on his belly. I had to fabricate a long Extension handle for a box wrench. There is no room for a socket. I paid him $20 and he was real proud of helping. The only other option is drilling off the heads from the top.

The very front ones are real tough to get nuts on. I used an item called Togglers for these. They make them in stainless and work pretty damn well.

For extra insurance I bedded the stainless in 5200. It’s real solid now.

Find yourself a small kid. My youngest is 9 now and too big for your job.

So I was winterizing my water system and my cold side of my faucet isn’t working so I pulled it apart and I need the valve. I’m not having any luck finding it, so I was going to replace the faucet my question is does anybody know the size I need which will fit in the counter top? Thanks

I’m updating the dash with new panels and switch actuators from FP Marine, plus new chart plotter (new Simrad Cruise 9) and VHF (my squelch adjustment was frozen), and getting rid of the auto-pilot that is not working (was told head unit is likely dead). Staying with the old radar for now - pretty sure all electronics were original to the boat. Will post before/after pics. Question, what do you guys do for dash/helm rain protection? Is there a standard cover available, or do I need to get something custom made? Right now I use an old tarp and some rocks to hold it down, not a good look!

has anyone installed Seadek on their 330 EC or Amberjack I was wondering what the cost would be

Long time lurker first time poster...
You need a custom cover. I’m on my second as I lost the first to the bottom of the lake as it dried on the dock. About $400 form my local canvas guy but very worth it.

Ok: I was on here years ago but projects got done and have been just enjoying it. Until today: can of worms opened!!
1st mate and I love spending days at a time on the boat but the cushions are just not adequate anymore. New upholstery flooring and stairs are on the agenda for this winter. Wish me luck and I’ll be sure to post progress pics.
