Official 330 Express Cruiser / 340 Amberjack 1997-2003 Thread

Enjoyed the 3hr cruise from storage to the dock, but other than that NOTHING… The winds have been constantly 15-25kts which can take the fun out of it for me. Even this weekend is a holiday weekend for Canadians (Victoria Day) and I chose not to spend much time at the dock - flipping windy every day! Hope the weather settles down a bit soon...

Yea we have the memorial day Air show here and it's suppose top be a little windy and chilly but o well I'm not gunna let it ruin my weekend

I've been in every cracked and crevice through my boat, but I can't for the life of me find the water tank! Anybody know we're it is? I can't believe I can't find it kinda embarrassing lol

Yup. Its under the floor to the front of the stairs. If you jam your head under the stairs where the breaker panel is and you look into the space at the left you will see the fill tubes. Its under the A/C and air handler under there. If you ever need to change out the tank you must pull up the cabin flooring and stairs. You can see the seam for the boards over the tank when you pull up the carpet. I figured it out when I did my cabin flooring.

I checked with Great Lakes and they didn't have patterns for my 99 EC. NO one does, at a least for the Merritt Island boats. The canvas was made in house. After Merritt island shut down the patterns went too. i got an estimate for insurance purposes of $3500 for complete winter canvas.

I have some some adjustment issues with my salon sofa as well. It actually wants to come out too far and the forward corner wants to go down too far. I haven't gotten into it yet as that was my project for spring. This lil tornado thing has brought all that to a halt tho. Just $35000 in repairs to go! Sighhh

Ok so I just got similar news about the canvas. Great Lakes is saying that since my particular boat came out of the Arizona factory they won't guarantee fit and they won't warranty it if it doesn't fit. They said they have had many fit issues with boats that came out of the old Arizona factory. That sucks because there is no way I'm going to gamble $2500 for canvas that might not fit. I guess I'll just have to pony up and get some custom stuff made locally.

Had the same issue with mine. You need to use the storage area underneath the sofa to get to the bolts that hold the cushions and brackets down. I found almost all very loose and a couple missing. I had to shim the outer two or three, can't remember, with washers to bring it up a bit. It took a while to get it worked out, but it lays flat and is finally straight now.

Whoever is buying from great lakes here is my experience with there canvas. The large back canvas is a bit large than it should be. My solution was to add snaps lower. I actually screwed the reciever snap to the bottom of the run rail on the transom. I think it worked out better then the original design. They never pop off due to wind, no water can possibly get in, the reciever snaps have alot more bite and have never loosened or ripped off and it holds the canvass alot tighter. Yes it's bigger but if your happy with the snaps in the rub real I think it's better. As for every other piece I got from them it was a prefect fit. My boat was built in merrit Florida but how could the design b any different. Same mold correct? Anyway if u ask them for part numbers I can match them to my tags. On the other hand if you'd like I can also ship you my old set to give the canvas shop as templates. They all still fit I use them during the winter so my new stuff doesn't get destroyed

As for the water tank I thought that's what would b under the floor. I should have inspected it before putting my floor down. I will be pissed if I ever have to pull my new floor up.. o well

I had checked tightness on all those over the winter. I was thinking that I would need to shim as well. Just couldn't see any adjustment to be made. Thanks Mike.

Well I've hopefully lucked into a better situation regarding my canvas. My little local shop has hired a new guy (maybe son) He's from Florida where he was a canvas maker and can do the stainless work as well. From our conversation, he understood exactly what I needed, and what I wanted to do in future projects and knew Sea Rays.

Some fiber glass and a lot of gel coat, most of the railing, a seat back and all the winter canvas. I was pretty lucky. My neighbor is close to being totaled and 2 others near me were totaled. You know the low hours I've got and she was in such pristine shape. I just hope all these guys are good to get her back.

Sorry to hear that. I'd be crying. . I'm just about done fixing my boat from when I got hit 3 weeks ago.

Good deal. We're just glad no one was hurt. The rest just takes time and money.
Things don't move quite so fast around here. Subs have to come from out of town.

That's upsetting just to look at... question. Is your gel coat a true wore or an off white? It's shiny as hell. I cannot for the life of me get that shine but I'm also an off white. I think it's arctic white if I Rembert correctly. I pretty much Gave up.

Me and the girl friend sleep on it every night. We find it more comfortable then the v berth. 2 adults comfortably (snuggle partners) maybe 3 kids
