Sorry guys been slacking on my csr answers. But as for the mount I tossed the xx radar and installed an open array from raymarine used from a friend. I flushed mounted and works great. The actual base of the open array is built with a forward tilt in it already so it sits level while on plane. Works great.
The fill and aerator were options as was the maserator. Came with the"fishing" package. Most ec and amberjack I've looked at didn't have them. I can't see it being too hard to install just never thought about it because fishing is to much work and I hate cleaning the boat after the blood and guts. Anyway next of luck with the install

Hey Adios Dinero, I bought a 1997 330 EC last year as well. Home port is Marin Yacht Club and I expect to bring it up to the Delta this summer so I'll be on the look out for you. I have some issues with/questions about my fishing package as well. There appears to be plumbing for at least the fish box and bait well drain, but it's disconnected and doesn't exactly match the diagram from the parts manual. There is a pump down there that appears to activate when the "bait well fill" switch is hit on the helm, but it appears to be macerator pump based on it's location and a google search of the Make/Model # (Sea Land/SE # T033980). I don't hear anything when I hit "Bait Well Drain." Also, the bait well appears to have 2 inlets/outlets that could correspond to "fill" and "drain" but I'm not 100% sure. Would love to figure out all this on my own and at least get the fish box drain hooked up. Any advise would be welcome.

Hey Ray,
We definitely need to compare the bait well setups. I only have the drain option for both the live well and bait well. You should be able to look at my plumbing setup and figure our how to make your drain work.
I see you list 8.1 Horizons as engines. Has your boat been repowered?

Sportsmen Yacht Club is a PICYA yacht club, so maybe one day we can meet up, either at your club or mine.
My boat is named "Chill Out" if you see it around.

Adios Dinero,

Yes repowered January 2014, less than 100 hours on those engines. Very nice! Marin Yacht Club, near Loch Lomond on the San Rafael Canal, is a great cruise in destination, great harbor, huge lawn area if you have a dog, pool and tennis courts also. Yes compare pics of our fish box/bait well plumbing. I tried to attach pics here but couldn't figure it out. My email is asalvas52@gmail.com if you want to send some then I'll reply with pics of my own. I'm also trying to figure out access to my Westerbeke generator for care/maintenance. It's located starboard of stb engine and I can barely access the dipstick, forget about the spark plus or oi fill cap! Also having issues with the sofa/bed, won't drop down flat. That was an item that was supposed to be fixed when I took possession, it worked once then not again since the day I got the boat.

The pump or maceration that your looking at is indeed a maceration (white round bottom with a black motor ontop the round bait well is your live bait well and the big well is the catch well. Both well drains are plumbed into the maceration which then dumps out through an underwater thru hull. The maceration is turned on by a switch on the dash. I forget what is labeled I'll have to look next time I'm there

There should be an access door just above the generator. When the engine room hatch is lifted you can see it. This is how I reach the plugs and oil fill. Unless somebody installed the access hatch before I bought it u should have it. The sofa bed will never lay flat it hits the stairs. I just give it a little push down to help it flatten out. I always help the motor put when opening and closing the sofa. Motor seems a little week for what it does so alittle help never hurts. I also unscrewed the bottom half and recessed it about an inch back so it gives it a little more room before it hits the stairs. The previous owner also replaced that motor in 2013 to the tune of 500$ so it might be a known issue. Just a little information on the generator plugs. A normal socket does not fit into the channel to get the plus out you either need to shave down the walls of the socket or buy a skinny walled socket. Harbour freight has them but buy 2 because if they hadn't been changed in a while you will snap the chappy Harbour freight tools.I'll try to get you guys a picture of my plumbing

My father is the proud new owner of a 02 340 AJ. I currently have a 94 300 dancer and have a generator question. On his there is a preheat button. What's the purpose of this when starting the genset? Chris

If it's desire my understanding is it heats up the glow plugs before starting to help worth an easier start.
If it's has then it's a bypass switch. It bypasses all the sensors that will shut your engine down of there's something wrong (high temp, low oil pressure and low water flow) u must hold this button down then start the generator keep holding the preheat button for about 5 seconds till the engine builds oil pressure then release.

Sorry for the late reply. I was on Maui for a week getting one daughter married off and another engaged.
I have some catching up to do for the next week or so & then I'll have time to get down to the boat and pull the fish well & bait well out and see what it looks like down there.

My sofa bed lays down nice and flat, so I guess I got lucky there.

I'll shoot you an email one day this summer and see if we can make it down to Marin. Sounds like a great place to hang out.

Going for a dive to clean out intakes scrub the bottom alittle and change my zincs. My zincs were always changed by the yard so I never did them and I really don't feel like having to dive again so I need someone to confirm 2 things. Do I have 1.5 inch shafts and what size zincs ate on my trim tabs

Ok 340 amberjack owners time to pick your brain a bit. I think I mentioned earlier my father has taken deliver of a 02 340 Amberjack. Did I mention that my 94 300 Sundance looks small in the slip next to it. Two questions: I find it odd that the only lighting in the cabin runs of the DC system. Am I missing something? Second question, last week we ran the genset for about 2 mins then transfer the load to it. It took a few mins for it to allow the AC to be powered up (was off). The week we did the same thing, and it did not allow any thing to turn on. I'm wondering if the transfer switches are bad. I confirmed that the shore power switches were off, and the safety slides were moved over, then the generator switched were turned on. We ran the genset for at least 30 mins and nothing. Thanks Chris

As far at the generator goes. I fire mine up make sure it's running and pumping water and within 20 seconds of turning it on i throw a full load at it. Ac frig ice machine watery heater. Everything turns on in seconds.
As for the lighting. Everything in my cabin runs off the house batteries except for the two big halogens in the ceiling. They need 110 . Almost every boat I've been on runs the cabinlights of the house batteries

I usually let my generator warm up for a few minutes before hitting it with a load. I have had the A/C compressor and water pump fail to start with the first attempt, especially if it hasn't been run in a while. The circulation fan continues to run and a couple of minutes later it attempts to start the compressor and water pump again which usually is successful. To shut down, the loads are first removed and the unit is allowed to idle for a few minutes to cool the windings before shutting down.

All of my interior lights are DC run off the batteries. Some of my older boats did have dual AC/DC lights, but probably redundant when you have an onboard generator which keeps the batteries charged via the converter/charger

Hi All,

My wife and I are narrowing down our search for the "perfect" boat. We are really trying to decide if we are going to be more day boaters or use it as a condo. The 330/340 is on the short list as a day boat.

My limitations are under 40' due to docking constraints so this boat might just work.

The requirements for us here in Florida are met perfectly in the cockpit but the big question is when the daily summer afternoon monsoons come can 4 adults and 4 teens seek shelter in the cabin (reasonably) with the couch up and the v-berth as a seating area?

I would say 8 down below would work. It will definetly be just alittle tight but if everybody kinda finds a spot and hangs out in it without everybody teeing to walk around at once you will be fine. The cockpit sure is roomy to right? !

Thanks for the response!

Yes. The cockpit is perfect for our intended use. :)

I just found the AJ has a Double Berth and Dinette instead of the Couch and U-shaped Seating the 330 has, so that narrows my search to the 330's.
