Official 330 Express Cruiser / 340 Amberjack 1997-2003 Thread

I believe mine is plumbed, but I've never used it. There is a potable water spigot on the port stern corner as you've noticed, but there is also another spigot on the stb stern corner that uses a separate pump (believe it is the wash down pump switch at the helm) which draws its water from under the boat. I've used a 25' hose on that one to wash down the deck while out for the day, but it needs to be reverse flushed at the beginning of the season since it seems to lose its prime.

Ok that makes sense. I have the switch on the dash for washdown, but only the port spigot. None on the stb side. Thanks for the info. I'll just keep it simple and continue to use the potable water.

Hello all...I am running a 2001 34 amberjack w/ 7.4 mercs 370hp. I have pricing and am ready to pull the trigger on a re-power with the new Merc 8.2 Mag H.O. 425 hp with DTS electronic shift and ECT emmissions. After reading a number of boattest reviews and mercury test online I am expecting to get a cruising speed of 25-27kts at about 30 GPH with quite a bit of reduced fumes and a significant reduction in engine noise. Any thoughts here on my expectations and anyone have any re-power experience with the 34 amberjack? Yes, diesel came to mind but the size, price, fuel/generator conversion has made that deal not with it. I am at approx 65k out the door and will get about 12k for the 7.4's with trannies, controls, sync and gauges...Many thanks

That's looks amazing I just purchased a 99 EC and I an very excited .. dose the table remove and stow
Thanks Gary

Sorry a little late but. Yes port spigot is fresh water and in the same spot in the star side there should be another spigot. That is your raw water and yes the switch is located at the helm. The pump and all the plumbing for the in floor well and raw water wash down are screwed to the wall in the in the bilge under the bait wells right above the rudders. The two bait wells are actually attached to a maserator then pumped out through an underwater discharge thru (switch at the helm labeled discharge I believe) hull on the star side.

Thank you. I still can't quite figure out what the previous owner did. Both bait well/fish well have the macerator discharge. On the baitwell, there are hole where it looks like the recirculating pump was hooked up, but there isn't even a plastic fitting left. And there is not stb spigot for washdown. Only the port freshwater. I think I finally found the thruhull which supplied the baitwell, there is a ball valve with nothing attached right next to the thru hull for the a/c, located in bilge right behind the shower sump. They must've run the hose all the way back? Regardless, with 40gal capacity it's not a big deal to use the freshwater for a washdown.
Now on to the next project. As it got cold last weekend, some fluid leaked at the helm from the hyrdraulic steering. Oring somewhere....

I don't have anything supplying the baitwell. I have drains but no fills so I can't help you there but as for the leaking hydraulic fluid. I had the same issue when I first purchased my boat. U could have something as simple as a loose fitting or you could be as lucky as I was and had to buy a reseal kit, pull the entire unit out, take it apart and put the new seals in. Don't worry is not as bad as u think just take your time and have a clean bench. Lots of little balls to chase around if go to fast. I forgot the name of my steering unit but it was on sticker on the unit and I went to my local Maine supply and they actually had it in stock. Good luck

Looks great! What's the new hole for above the genny's exhaust port? Did you reduce the original exhaust line to 4"?

Looks like he glassed in the original exhaust port and the new hole will be the above water portion of the new exhaust set up.

Thanks! Ok I believe we went with a 5" exhaust line...the second hole is a relief port when the engine is at about idle when the pressure is not great enough to push out the bottom. Looks like it was easy to get the generator out, thats good, the bad is the corrosion from a leak has me now doing heat exchanger, fuel cooler and a few other repairs...about $2500 but better to do now I guess! Beats a new one as that had less than a year left, so it gets a rebuild and repaint job and good to go for a while

looks great!!!!! keep the pics and updates coming!!!!!

Below is the latest...exhaust all glassed in and new generator going in easy without engines in the way. Got 2k for the old one and new was 8k so it took some of the sting out! was not expecting generator disaster but it was 4k to overhaul it so it made sense to replace for a couple of grand.

That looks like an elegant piece of work! Please let us know how the noise level compares to the OEM setup once back in the water. Also, where did you get the bronze exhaust fittings for the hull?

Many thanks! Well yes, it will be interesting to see how this setup works compared to the OEM setup. I spoke to a mechanic that was working on the new 37 searay and he said that it was as silent as the stern drives...we will see. I got the exhaust part # from searay and found the part on FPmarine.com. He has thousands of searay parts from all the model years and is an interesting and helpful guy to speak with, I think I found him somewhere on this forum.

Exhaust going straight back to a wall mounted pipe then drops down to the modified vernalift muffler...Engine started today and running, is super quiet even while still out of the water!!FullSizeRender 13.jpgIMG_2643.JPGThe Eagles have landed....20151215_085413_resized_1.jpgView attachment 4314020151215_095716_resized_1.jpg

That floor and stairs look great, what type of wood did you put on the cabin floor? How was it to pull the carpet? Did you glue the floor down?
