Official 320 Dancer Thread

Ahhh Boltman, thanks...I knew it had to be something like that! I try to cruise at about 3500 rpms(about 25 mph) is that too fast? It seems like I was getting the best fuel economy at that speed.

Also on the trim tabs, is there some indicator that tells me the position they are in? I looked all over the displays but can't seem to find one.

Thanks again!! Eventually I will get the hang of this big boat stuff!

nO nOT REALLY

Gman, We usually Cruise at 27 mph and turning 3400 rpm's the boat loves that speed and so does the Wife.

I don't use the trim tabs but to leve the Boat from side to side...

Your doing just fine, it's a learning experiance for sure with a new Boat as big as you purchased.

I'm hoping you like that Boat too, you might want to get a memory foam mattress for that bed too, that's what everyone went to including me and my bride, the bed is too hard...

Yes, one night on that "matress" (if you can even call it that) and we knew we needed to get a memory foam one.

We already have just need to take it out to the boat tomorrow and cut it so it is the right shape.

Boltman-
I think you can keep food warm on those cockpit lights. I was thinking about making a cover to snap over them with a deflected amber lens. I made one up last year to test and it needs an amber lens to keep the bugs out. We prefer not to use the arch lights.

I would like to run some led's around on the inside. When I ran the cable for the HDTV I found out the wire harnes was easy to get to behind all the doors in the V-berth.

Jim696-

We are in Mckinely Marina, Milwaukee. They put in all new floating docks. Are you in Reef Point?

I agree, those lights are bright, but if they weren't then we'd complian that they weren't bright ENOUGH!!! I agree about a cover to deflect some of the rays.....How are you cover them and with what, I know they are those bulbs that look like Fuses, is there a lower wattage bulb maybe, or even a colored bulb for effect, you know dimmly lit lights, music.... maybe even some Ballroom dancing in the cockpit... I don't know. All i know is that when those light are on, yes even the Arch lights, it's like daylight coming in.

Wouldn't it be easy enough to just intall a dimmer rheostat in the line that controls these lights? Just tap into the line, run the dimmer (DC) to a convenient location, and you're done.

I was thinking about doing that on my 340.

Also, I think I'm going to add one more cockpit light in the rear seating area, just to balance the lighting more.

You hit it on the nose. A dimmer was my inital thought but, the white light will bring in the bugs. I looked for a lense replacement in amber and could not find one. A como amber lens and dimmer would be the trick. I think Searay missed the ticket by not having a dimmer here. Our old Searay had the amber. Wonder why it changes. ( Cost ! )

I had a chance to speak to the design team about the 320 and one of the cost saving areas was lighting. The galley design had two lights above and production is only one. I'll probably get to adding one there too.

Insurance...

I'm booked to take delivery on May 2nd...just investigating Insurance quotes right now. What is a good yearly rate? I'm being quoted about $1500/yr (tax in).

Just recieved the bill. 814.00 including the Dink and Motor for 07. The company is Global Marine Insurance and the policy is written through Travelers Ins. Last year we had an un-fourtunate bump of the bottom to the tune of 8k. Our Local Searay Dealer " Skipper Buds"gave us a " Loaner boat " for a week while ours was being repaired and Pam at Global Marine Ins. wrote us a policy for free to cover that loaner boat. Give them a try Global Marine Ins. Quotemyboat.com or 800-748-0224 Pam Stanely. Beats 1500.00.

Second recomendation for Pam and her crew - they are great. Our policy is through Zurich and covers up to $1k/storm for haulouts/prep (up to 3x a season), plus the deductable does not change during storms (1%). That policy cost us a bit more, but well worth it for us to be able to sleep at night.

We also put a rod holder on the transome locker door and put a Newport gas grill out back. Great for hanging out on the swim platform cooking dinner. The grill will fit well in the locker too.

Mike
Mike I was thinking of doing the same with my 300DA. It looks like the rail on top of the transom locker is about the same as your 320DA. Any problems with it? Is it far enough away from the aft seat as not to burn the vinyl? Thanks, Brian. P.S Boltman... I love that hinged radar arch on your 320DA... very cool.

It probably would have alot to do with your location. When you get a chance, put that info on your signature. It would help people when answering your questions. I think that would be a good rate if you live in Florida.

Bridog-

You will want to find a rod holder that has the mount near the base so you can lean it back. The Grill mount is long and on a gimbel itself. When you angle both towads the back it is about 18 " from the rear seat and up aways too! I have the optional port and starboard rod holders but the stern ones are too close to the gas cap and the other is close to the arch. Its graet to be out on the hook and have shrimp on the barbie When were done we throw a flag in it. Word of caution. Befoe the first time you cook on that grill be sure to spray the grates down with PAM. Keep it up and cleaning is a snap.

Thanks for the advice.

320 Stainless look Air Intake Cover-

This is just an idea. On some of the Dancers the Air intake is a seperate cover. On the 320 it is not. I am looking in to making it into a cover and having it vacuum fomed them electro plated in black chrome or S.S. look finish. I would enlarge the actual air openings as to not restrict flow. I will do a Adobe Photo shop rendering prior and post. My goal is to enhance the side profile of the 320.

Any intrest?

Mike

Mike, Thanks for the grill tip. Also if you get a chance I would love to see some pictures of the modifications you have done. Thanks again, Brian

Brian-

I'm working on my skills of downloading photos. I'll have to read through the post and figure this out. My Daughter thinks its the resolution is too high yet. Once I fugure it out I'll post them.

Mike

Correct, I was wondering what it would look like. I thought chrome would be too much. Once I get the Adobe file done I'll post it or e-mail it out. I have a tough time leaving well enough alone. Once boating season begins I'll simmer down. The nice thing is at least I have a hobby.
